  1. 'Clubs have their main stadiums available'published at 11:40 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March

    Anita Asante
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Obviously it [the pitch] experienced heavy rain before the game which didn't help, but we're all aware that these clubs have their main stadiums available to them which would have helped the situation at hand.

It's a top game between two big teams who want to deliver the best product of football.

It also puts them at risk with injuries. Are we really prioritising quality pitches for the women's game?

You should always leave them wanting more so I reckon this is the perfect time to take my break.

I'll be spending it researching Derby's Baseball Ground. Derby spent their last full season there two years before I was born.

Taking over is Ben Ramsdale who I believe is even younger than me.

My son played on Pride Park’s pitch last season & it was in incredibly poor condition. This view has nothing at all to do with us being Forest season ticket holders….

    Thanks, Chip

What do they expect if they play in Derby? Delighted to see that Pride Park is maintaining the noble tradition of the mighty Baseball Ground.

    Popside Pete

I thought the Derby county pitch was absolutely awful for the Womens League Cup final, reminded me of the sandpit Chelsea made Barcelona play on in 2005/2006.

Incredible Dan. I'm trying to think of the UK equivalent.

A dog that keeps chasing the match ball? Four or five aggressive pigeons?

I used to play for Wangawallan FC when I was in Australia, it was pretty much in a rainforest clearing. Our pitch wasn’t the great but we had to call off a match after a 12’ Python decided to have an early morning snooze in the centre circle one Saturday. Not tackling that!

  12. Harwood-Bellis, Wharton and Delap train with senior squadpublished at 10:56 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March

At St. George's Park yesterday three England under-21s trained with Thomas Tuchel's senior side.

Southampton's Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton and Ipswich's Liam Delap all joined the senior team's training session.

Out of the three youngsters, only Delap is still in search for his first senior England cap - will he get it this year?

Did Mike from Morecambe score the diving header? If so, swimming like a fish in that puddle would be the only appropriate celebration, surely?

Can’t talk about worst pitches without an honourable mention for red blaze pitches that were common in Scotland in the 70/80s - falling on that stuff HURT, and slide tackling resulted in many a bloody leg!

The fixture, which kicks off at 15:00 CET (14:00 BST), sees United return to Strawberry Arena - formerly known as the Friends Arena - for the first time since the 2017 UEFA Europa League final, when United beat Ajax 2-0 to lift the trophy for the first time in the club’s history.

Grew up with a pitch that was flat at one end and rose steeply at the other. Leaning back while taking a shot would result in a top bins finish at one end, and a bottom corner finish at the other!

I thought significantly when the players walked out - Harry Kane as the captain was leading the squad out - but just to his left, Dan Burn. He has really come from nowhere to the top of the bill.

He was the first player put up today to speak about the Thomas Tuchel era. He has become the star-turn.

He said that the people in Darlington back then certainly wouldn't have expected him at the age of 32 to be sitting where he is now. It's a real lesson on what is possible in life.

You just know that Mike didn't score with that header too.

Top marks Mike if you went for that diving header and completely missed the cross before landing in the puddle.
