    Blackburn 0-0 Ipswich

A late injury to Sidnei Tavares means Taylor Gardner-Hickman will join Lewis Miller in making their first starts for Blackburn Rovers this afternoon.

They could make a real impression at Ewood Park if their early participation results in the side's first home win.

    Portsmouth 0-0 Sheff Wed

There's no Josh Murphy for Portsmouth today in what is a major blow for John Mousinho.

His side are already missing first choice keeper Nico Schmid, who broke his hand against Southampton last weekend.

  4. Rovers seek first home win against buoyant Ipswichpublished at 14:57 BST 20 September

    Blackburn v Ipswich (15:00 BST)

Ipswich's last Championship game was such a romp that it ended a manager's tenure.

5-0 the East Anglian side routed Sheffield United by, effectively ending Ruben Selles torturous, short spell as Blades boss - but was it a sign of great things to come from Ipswich, or just a showing of how last season's promotion contenders have fallen?

Today's encounter with Blackburn Rovers will be a telling sign. The two sides are on the same points and not enjoying a particularly strong start to their respective seasons.

Rovers are yet to win at home and while they will be desperately seeking to change that, Ipswich will want to send a message that they have sorted out their early issues and are here to contend for the trophy.

  5. Can stricken Owls extend Fratton Park run?published at 14:55 BST 20 September

Portsmouth v Sheff Wed (15:00 BST)

Sheffield Wednesday's miserable start to the season continued on Tuesday as they exited the Carabao Cup at home to League Two Grimsby.

The Owls' solitary Championship point came in a 2-2 draw at home to Wrexham last month but Henrik Pedersen's side suffered a punishing defeat at home by Bristol City last time out.

Today they travel to Portsmouth, although one bright spot is that they are unbeaten in their past seven matches against the south coast club.

They have not lost in any of their past five visits to Fratton Park - but of course those were very different times.

John Mousinho will be without his first-choice goalkeeper Nico Schmid after the Austrian broke his hand in a collision with team-mate Connor Ogilvie in last weekend's derby draw at Southampton.

  6. Tigers and Saints inconsistentpublished at 14:52 BST 20 September

    Hull vs Southampton (15:00 BST)

Both Hull and Southampton will admit their seasons are off to a slightly slower start, than they had planned.

The Tigers (20th) haven’t won since mid-August and have conceded 11 goals in five matches.

They salvaged a point and ended a two-game skid last weekend with an equaliser deep into injury time against Swansea.

But they’ll have to be better today.

Southampton (15th) are under pressure to kick start their season after failing to secure a win since their opening day victory over Wrexham.

With draws from their last two matches Saints are holding steady and a game against another struggling opponent could be what they need to turn the tide.

Preston North End manager Paul Heckingbottom previews Saturday's game against Derby County

Derby County's big spending this summer is beginning to pay off.

After a losing start to the season, they've remained undefeated their past three games and scored a huge win last time out over promotion-chasers West Bromwich Albion to mark their first victory of the season.

But while it's taken a few games for the Rams to click into gear, Preston North End have been looking good from the get go.

They've only lost one of their opening five games and were moments away from handing league leaders Middlesbrough their first defeat of the season last weekend, but boss Paul Heckingbottom still feels he has a point to prove.

"We are playing another team at the weekend that have spent millions of pounds. So, if everyone is right with what they put on social media, then we should lose," Heckingbottom told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"The fact that we have had good performances up to this point. People are understanding that it is not about the money, it is about what we do and the fans have been fantastic, the players have been fantastic and we need to make sure we stick together and continue it through the season."

  8. Can Wrexham finally ignite season?published at 14:47 BST 20 September

    Norwich v Wrexham (15:00 BST)

    Phil ParkinsonImage source, PA Media

Wrexham haven't found life quite as plain sailing as last season's breeze in League One... not an unfamiliar tale among sides coming up.

Phil Parkinson's men have only won one of their opening five matches - a 2-0 win at Millwall at the end of last month.

They go into the game at Carrow Road off the back of a disappointing 3-1 home defeat by QPR.

Norwich have started well enough under Liam Manning... away from home anyway... with seven points from their five games.

However, they've lost both their league matches at home. Can they change that today?

  10. 'King is back in his rightful castle'published at 14:40 BST 20 September

Sheff Utd v Charlton (15:00 BST)

    Naz Premji
BBC Final Score commentator at Bramall Lane

There will be a real sense of excitement at Bramall Lane as Chris Wilder is back to start a third spell in charge.

It's a much smaller gap this time and a really strange scenario which saw Wilder leave and then return to the hotseat after Ruben Selles' six-game spell which saw the Blades lose all their matches and sink to the bottom of the Championship.

Now the boyhood Blade is back and he is promising to bring the same passion and drive for the job that in the past resulted in promotion to the Premier League and some unforgettable moments.

This afternoon Charlton Athletic are playing the part of party poopers and Nathan Jones' side have made a very steady start to life back in the Championship. They picked up a point against Millwall and will be hoping to continue the misery for the home fans and spoil their new/old manager's return.

Whatever happens today, from a Sheffield United fan's point of view the only way is up and their King is back in his rightful castle!

  11. Will Wilder's latest return revive Blades?published at 14:39 BST 20 September

Sheff Utd v Charlton (15:00 BST)

    Chris WilderImage source, Getty Images

It's out with the older and in with the... old at Bramall Lane as Chris Wilder returns to his childhood club for his third stint in charge.

Ruben Selles' short stay in the dugout was very much a case of "blink and you'll miss it" but after five defeats in five Championship games, the Spaniard was sacked and the board have turned to Wilder to kickstart their season.

Wilder was sacked himself at the end of last season despite leading the Blades to the Championship play-off final but just three months on his first priority is getting the club off the foot of the table.

"It just feels as if I have been on an extended holiday really, which I have," he told BBC Radio Sheffield in his pre-match press conference.

"We have been working 24/7 to make sure we get it right - to get Monday right, Tuesday right and then working up to, most importantly, Saturday.

"I want to send everyone home happy at five o'clock. The fans have not had that winning feeling [this season], and we never get tired of that feeling."

The Blades host a Charlton side who have not won in the league since the opening day of the season and sit 18th in the table with five points.

  12. Postpublished at 14:37 BST 20 September

Phew, nice to get a couple of goals in the end!

There are six more matches coming up at 15:00 BST, so let's take a look at what's in store...

  13. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:34 BST 20 September

    Birmingham 1-0 Swansea

An added time winner from super substitute Lyndon Dykes ends Birmingham's three match goalless losing streak.

It was a stop-start second half that had little to offer until Dykes' 94th minute header but Swansea may go home feeling a little hard done by.

They found the net in the first half via Zan Vipotnik but saw a tight offside call not go their way.

It wouldn't have changed Blues' undefeated home record though that now extends to a whopping 28 games.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:30 BST 20 September

    Birmingham 1-0 Swansea

Desperate times for Swansea as they exchange Ronald and Goncalo Franco for Melker Widell and Liam Cullen.

The support at St Andrew's had gone quiet. Not anymore, they've woken up.

  15. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 1-0 Swanseapublished at 14:26 BST 20 September

    Lyndon Dykes (90 + 4 mins)

    THE DROUGHT IS OVER!

Patrick Roberts whips a ball into the middle of the box towards his fellow substitute Lyndon Dykes, who rises high and puts his whole body behind his header to nod it into the net.

Blues get their first goal in four games and guarantee their undefeated record at St Andrew's will remain unbroken.

A few more minutes to see out...

  16. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:26 BST 20 September

    QPR 1-0 Stoke

QPR make it three wins in three. The Rs win three consecutive Championship matches for the first time since September 2022 under Michael Beale.

A moment of brilliance from Harvey Vale was the difference, his first goal for the club.

Stoke had the majority of possession but it was the hosts who had the better chances and were well worth the win.

Though Julien Stephan will be delighted with his centre-back Liam Morrison for a huge goal-saving block to deny Aaron Cresswell late on.

  17. 'Coventry were brave and resolute'published at 14:26 BST 20 September

    FT: Leicester 0-0 Coventry

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

This is an excellent away point and and another really good performance by Coventry. We knew this would be a yard stick for how this season would go and we gave it a real go.

The Sky Blues were brave going forward and resolute in defence. Carl Rushworth was outstanding, but it wasn't just about the keeper. It was all about the starting eleven and the substitutions, too.

  18. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:25 BST 20 September

    Leicester 0-0 Coventry

A frustrating goalless stalemate at the King Power Stadium but overall, a pretty entertaining game.

Leicester the better side in the second half but they were unable to break the Coventry defence who went toe-to-toe with their opponents for the full 90 minutes.

The Sky Blues keeper, Carl Rushworth, probably the best player this afternoon.

The Foxes remain fourth in the Championship. Coventry move up one place to fifth.

That'll almost certainly change once our six 15:00 BST games are done.

  19. Postpublished at 14:25 BST 20 September

    QPR 1-0 Stoke

Lewis Baker sends in a dangerous ball into the QPR box but it just goes over everyone's heads and out for a goal-kick.

Into the final minute of added time.

  20. Postpublished at 14:25 BST 20 September

    Birmingham 0-0 Swansea

There's nine minutes added to the clock as Kyogo Furuhashi's acrobatic bicycle kick is blocked out and Swansea keeper Lawrence Vigouroux hits the deck after clashing with Lyndon Dykes.

More time to be added on now as Vigouroux's head injury is checked. If only we could get a show out of it...
