Match Facts

  • This will be the first ever competitive meeting between Eintracht Frankfurt and Atalanta – the German side are winless and have failed to score in each of their last four European matches against Italian opposition, including when drawing 0-0 with Napoli on MD4 (L3).

  • Atalanta have won both of their last two European games against German opponents, beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the final of the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League and Stuttgart 2-0 in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League group stage.

  • Eintracht Frankfurt lost 5-1 on both MD2 and MD3 of this season’s UEFA Champions League, before drawing 0-0 with Napoli on MD4 – however, the Italian side had 18 shots in that draw, their most ever without scoring in a home game in this competition. Overall, only Kairat (35) have faced more shots on target this term than the Eagles (34).

  • Atalanta beat Marseille 1-0 on MD4 after recording a goalless draw with Slavia Prague on MD3 – only Internazionale (11), Arsenal (10) and PSG (8) have kept more clean sheets in the UEFA Champions League than La Dea (7) since the start of last season.

  • Eintracht Frankfurt’s two home games in the UEFA Champions League so far this season have seen six goals, beating Galatasaray 5-1 on MD1 and losing 5-1 to Liverpool on MD3; that makes the German side one of only three to both score and concede more than five goals across their opening two home games in a Champions League campaign alongside Roma in 2014-15 (6F 8A) and Tottenham in 2019-20 (7F 7A).

  • New Atalanta manager Raffaele Palladino took Fiorentina to the semi-finals of the UEFA Conference League last season in his debut campaign as a manager in European competition (W6 D3 L3), and only eventual winners Chelsea (42) scored more goals in that competition last term than his Viola side (30).

  • Eintracht Frankfurt conceded more shots from fast breaks (10) than any other team in the opening four matchdays of this UEFA Champions League campaign, while only Union Saint-Gilloise (5) conceded more goals from fast breaks than the German side (4) in the same period.

  • Atalanta’s Lazar Samardzic has scored three goals in the UEFA Champions League since the start of last season, including two of his side’s three goals in the competition this term. All three goals have come as substitute, the joint-most goals any player has in that period with 100% coming from the bench (also Harvey Barnes, Ángel Correa, Marco Asensio and Nemanja Radonjic).

  • Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown has won 20 of his 21 true tackle attempts in the UEFA Champions League this season, with his win percentage (95%) being the highest of any player (+10 attempted). Of the 21 he has been involved in, he is yet to be dribbled past and has only conceded one foul.

  • Atalanta’s Gianluca Scamacca has scored eight goals in 12 starts in major European competition, six of which have come across his nine appearances in the starting XI for the Italian side. His only previous appearance against German opposition in Europe came in the 2023-24 UEFA Europa League final, assisting Ademola Lookman’s third goal.
