Match Facts

  • This will be the first meeting between Copenhagen and Kairat, as well as the first ever major European match between teams from Denmark and Kazakhstan.

  • Kairat have faced a Danish opponent on two previous occasions in Europe, with both coming in qualifying for the UEFA Europa League against Esbjerg in 2014-15 – Kairat were eliminated after 1-1 draw at home and a 0-1 defeat away.

  • Kairat are looking to achieve the first ever UEFA Champions League win by a side from Kazakhstan. To date, they have played a combined 10 matches in the competition, with five draws and five defeats. Four of their five away matches have ended in defeats, however (D1).

  • Copenhagen are winless in the UEFA Champions League this season (D1 L3) and have lost each of their last three, which is already their longest ever losing run in the competition. Their 0-4 defeat to Tottenham on MD4 was also their joint-second heaviest defeat in the Champions League, only losing by more on one occasion (0-5 v Manchester City in October 2022).

  • Kairat are still looking for their first win in major European competition, with this their 11th such game (D3 L7). All three of the matches they have managed to avoid defeat in so far have been goalless draws (v Omonia Nicosia in 2021 on two occasions and v Pafos in October this year).

  • Copenhagen have conceded at least two goals in each of their last six UEFA Champions League matches (18 in total); the longest current run by any side involved in the 2025-26 edition.

  • Across the opening four matchdays in this season’s UEFA Champions League, Kairat ranked 35th out of the 36 teams for both expected goals for (2.6) and against (11.5). Indeed, they had the worst expected goal difference of any team through four matches (-8.9).

  • If he is named in Kairat’s starting XI in this match, Dastan Satpaev will become the youngest player in UEFA Champions League history to start in his team’s first five matches of a single campaign (17y 106d on the day of this game). The current youngest is Youri Tielemans, who did so for Anderlecht 2014-15 (17y 203d).

  • Copenhagen midfielder Lukas Lerager has recovered the ball and initiated 59 sequences of play in the UEFA Champions League this season, more than any other player during the first four matchdays. Meanwhile, only Nuno Mendes (8) initiated more sequences of play ending in shots than Lerager (7) in the same period.

  • Kairat’s Temirlan Anarbekov has only conceded two goals in the UEFA Champions League this season, despite facing an expected goals on target total of 5.8. Through the opening four matchdays of the current edition, this was the most ‘goals prevented’ by any goalkeeper in the tournament (+3.8), based on the xG of attempts on target faced.
