Match Facts
This will be the first meeting between Pafos and Monaco, as well as just the third fixture between Cypriot and French teams in the UEFA Champions League (APOEL Nicosia v Lyon and Paris SG previously).
Monaco have never previously faced a Cypriot team in Europe, while this will be the first time a French team have travelled to face a team from Cyprus in the UEFA Champions League since October 2014 (a 1-0 win for Paris SG against APOEL Nicosia).
Monaco ended a six-game winless run in the UEFA Champions League by beating Bodø/Glimt on MD4 (1-0). They last won consecutive games in the competition in November 2024, while they haven’t won and kept a clean sheet in back-to-back Champions League matches since December 2014 (1-0 v Bayer Leverkusen and 2-0 v Zenit St Petersburg).
Pafos have already kept three clean sheets in the UEFA Champions League this season. If they don’t concede in this match versus Monaco, they will equal the record by a Cypriot side in a single season in major European competition (4 by APOEL Nicosia in 2016-17 in the UEFA Europa League).
The average age of Pafos’ starting XI in the UEFA Champions League this season is 30 years and 34 days, making them the only side with an average age of 30+ through the opening four rounds this term.
Monaco have the highest line-breaking pass percentage in the UEFA Champions League this season, with 15,3% of their total passes breaking at least one opposition line. Pafos, meanwhile, rank 35th out of 36 teams in this category (9.4%) in the current edition.
Monaco have only scored one of their 10 big chances in the UEFA Champions League this season (10%); the worst conversion rate of any side across the first four matchdays. Six of those 10 non-converted big chances have been by either Folarin Balogun (4) or Maghnes Akliouche (2).
Pafos have the highest long pass percentage in the UEFA Champions League this season, with the Cypriot side hitting 21% of their passes long so far.
Since the start of last season, Maghnes Akliouche has the joint-most goal involvements for Monaco in the UEFA Champions League (5 – 2 goals, 3 assists), while also leading the team in dribbles completed (22) and chances created (20) in the competition.
Pafos defender Derrick Luckassen has made more clearances (52) and headed clearances (31) than any other player in the UEFA Champions League this season. Indeed, Pafos also lead all teams in both categories in the current tournament, making 166 clearances and 75 headed clearances.
