  3. 'You'll take any luck you can get'published at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

    Plymouth 1-0 Millwall

    Brent Pilnick
    BBC Sport at Home Park

"We are staying up" is the cry from the Green Army as their heroes take the lead here at Home Park.

It was a bit lucky in the end - Joe Bryan saw the ball late and it deflected off his standing foot - but when you are at the bottom you'll take any luck you can get.

    Burnley 1-0 Hull City

Roared on by a home faithful who are obviously thrilled to have seen a goal, Burnley are laying siege to the Tigers box now, though Jaidon Anthony's cut-back into a crowded goalmouth is cleared by the City defence.

    Joe Bryan og (6 mins)

Just the start that bottom club Plymouth wanted!

Callum Wright puts in a low cross from the left and the ball bounces in off Millwall left-back Joe Bryan.

    Sunderland 0-0 Luton

Sunderland perhaps should be in front.

Patrick Roberts wriggles into some space in the box and sets up Wilson Isidor, who sends his shot wide from about 12 yards.

  7. goal

GOAL: Burnley 1-0 Hull Citypublished at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

    Bashir Humphreys (3 mins)

    What a hit...

From their first attack, the ball is laid into the path of the Chelsea loanee Bashir Humphreys, five yards outside the box, and he picks his spot in the bottom corner with an angled drive past the despairing dive of Ivor Pandur's left hand.

His first Clarets goal and that feels like a mountain to climb for the Tigers, who had begun so brightly.

  8. Postpublished at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

    Burnley 0-0 Hull City

Burnley might be unbeaten in 18 games but Hull City are showing them absolute no respect, blasting out of the blocks and pinning them back in their own half.

Steven Alzate's stinging drive from 20-yards is charged down by CJ Egan-Riley.

  9. Postpublished at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

    Swansea 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Some lovely footwork from the visitors' Djeidi Gassama opens up a shooting chance for the Frenchman but he drags it horribly wide - he maybe got a bit overexcited there.

  10. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

Five of our seven Championship games are about to get under way.

The matches at Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion start in about 15 minutes.

    Sunderland v Luton (19:45 GMT)

Jobe Bellingham is back in Sunderland's midfield after missing Saturday's draw against Watford with a minor injury.

No doubt he will be hoping to replicate what his older brother did last night and score quite an important goal for his side...

The atmosphere isn't the same as Sunday here at Home Park, but Plymouth Argyle will be hoping they can build on the momentum of their FA Cup win over Liverpool.

The Pilgrims have not won back-to-back league games since they clinched the League One title in May 2023, but the bottom-of-the-table side need to start winning if they are to stand any chance of staying up this season.

Argyle make three changes - two in defence - but crucially new centre-backs Nikola Katic and Maksym Talovierov, who impressed so much on Sunday do start.

  13. Three changes for Blades, two for Boropublished at 19:42 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

Sheffield United v Middlesbrough (20:00 GMT)

    Blades XI

Chris Wilder has made three changes to the Blades XI from Saturday’s 2-1 win over Portsmouth.

Callum O’Hare, Jez Rak-Sakyi and Sydie Peck return with Tyrese Campbell, Ben Brereton-Diaz and Hamza Choudhury named among the subs.

Michael Carrick has made two changes from the Boro side which was edged out by Sunderland on 3 February.

There’s a start in attack for Kelechi Iheanacho and Sam Iling-Junior with Marcus Forss and Morgan Whittaker named among the replacements.

After a unexpected four-week post-Christmas hangover when a threadbare Blades side picked up just 10 points from seven matches, Chris Wilder's men seem to have turned a corner with back-to-back wins in February.

They'll seek to close the gap on leaders Leeds to two points as Middlesbrough visit Bramall Lane, looking to end their own wobble and complete just their second league double over United in 37 years, following the 1-0 win at the Riverside in October.

Boro have lost three of their past four and defeat tonight would be three straight for the first time since December 2023, just weeks after Michael Carrick took the helm.

Their form at Bramall Lane has not been great, with six defeats in their past eight visits, though they did triumph 3-1 on their last trip in February 2023.

A repeat tonight would give the visitors a timely boost in the play-off race, having slipped to seventh, three points adrift of West Brom.

  15. Three changes for Albion; one for Roverspublished at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

West Brom v Blackburn (20:00 GMT)

West Brom make three changes to the side which won a dramatic game against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.

Kyle Bartley is suspended and Karlan Grant is out through illness while Grady Diangana drops to the bench.

Into the Baggies side come Mason Holgate, Tom Fellows and Mikey Johnston.

There is also a place among the substitutes for Semi Ajayi who has been out since late October through injury.

Blackburn make one change from their last Championship outing which was a 2-1 defeat by QPR.

Owen Beck is out with a hamstring injury and Yuri Ribeiro makes his first league start since arriving from Braga last month.

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray waving to supportersImage source, Rex Features

It's all been a bit odd for West Brom fans this season.

A run of 11 games which produced 10 draws and only nine goals scored had supporters begging for a bit more excitement.

They may have got their wish.

Under Carlos Corberan the Baggies scored 26 goals in the first 22 matches this season before the Spaniard headed back home to take charge of Valencia on Christmas Eve.

Since then the handbrake has come off with 15 goals in their past nine games including a 5-1 walloping of Portsmouth.

The return of Tony Mowbray was warmly received by all involved not just at The Hawthorns but football in general.

Having led the club to the Premier League in 2008 there are hopes he can repeat the feat this time around although it'll have to be via the play-offs rather than the title winning triumph of his previous tenure.

The addition of Adam Armstrong on transfer deadline day is already paying dividends with a debut goal in the win over Sheffield Wednesday and victory tonight could give them a nice buffer inside the top six.

  17. Rovers seek some normalitypublished at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

West Brom v Blackburn (20:00 GMT)

Sixth in the table, six new faces added in the transfer window and owners and fans seemingly happy with the job John Eustace was doing.

So, why would the 45-year-old swap that for a relegation battle at Derby?

That's the question on many lips ever since the Rams had an approach to speak to him about their vacancy granted on Monday.

These things are never black and white as former Derby boss Gary Rowett said before his Oxford side drew at Derby last night.

In the meantime Rovers have games to play and points to win to keep their play-off challenge on track albeit recent form has not exactly been lighting things up.

Blackburn arrive at The Hawthorns having lost four of their past five away games in the Championship including three in a row.

Maybe potentially losing their head coach will galvanise them once again as has been suggested by their opponents boss Tony Mowbray - a former Blackburn manager himself.

David Lowe is set to be in caretaker charge tonight but what happens beyond that is anyone's guess...

  18. Three changes for Swansea; Four for Wednesdaypublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

Swansea City v Sheffield Wednesday (19:45 GMT)

Swansea make three changes from the side which won at Bristol City on Sunday.

Harry Darling returns from a three-match suspension while Jay Fulton also starts as does Myles Peart-Harris.

Kyle Naughton, leading scorer Liam Cullen and Goncalo Franco all drop to the bench.

After a 2-1 defeat by West Brom, Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl makes four changes to his starting line-up.

Di'Shon Bernard is out of the squad while Stuart Armstrong, Nathaniel Chalobah and Michael Smith are among the substitutes.

Into the side come Marvin Johnson, Svante Ingelsson, Callum Paterson and Ike Ugbo.

Unhappy off the field, unhappy on it - all is not rosy in the garden of this corner of South Wales.

But, things could be looking up for Swansea City with Sunday's win at Bristol City following the appointment of Richard Montague as director of football.

Montague's arrival is arguably seen as more important than the three points at Ashton Gate after a transfer window described as a shambles in which only two players arrived and the Swans lost Matt Grimes to Championship rivals Coventry City.

Head coach Luke Williams will also be pleased to see the new director of football as they worked well together in helping steer Notts County back to the EFL.

On the field they have an eight point buffer to the relegation zone but have lost their past two EFL games at home with only Stoke and Hull City managing fewer than the Welsh side's 20 points on home turf.

The victory at Bristol City also put the brakes on a four match losing streak and there is a feeling it's all about getting to the summer still a Championship side and then the rebuild can begin in earnest.

  20. Wednesday like a City breakpublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 12 February

Swansea City v Sheffield Wednesday (19:45 GMT)

Shea Charles playing for Sheffield WednesdayImage source, Rex Features

In a world where a footballer can't sneeze without it being statistically analysed (X-sneeze anyone?) the fact Sheffield Wednesday have not lost to a team sporting the suffix 'City' in their past 12 league games is unlikely to figure highly in Danny Rohl's team talk tonight.

But, there it is, the last City team to beat the Owls were Leicester on 13 February, 2024 - those of a superstitious nature may realise tomorrow is the anniversary of that defeat...

Away from the fatuous facts and stats here is a Sheffield Wednesday side in with a serious shout of the play-offs but looking to overcome a bit of a wobble which has produced just the one victory in their past six Championship outings.

Also on the horizon this month are games against Coventry, Burnley and Sunderland by which time we will know just how serious a play-off challenger they are.

Keeping hold of Shea Charles in the transfer window was a massive lift for everyone at Hillsborough although they arrive in South Wales tonight without a league win at Swansea since August 1983 but, stats - shmats right?
