  4. goal

GOAL - Manchester United 6-0 Barnsleypublished at 81 mins

    Christian Eriksen

Barnsley hit for six at Old Trafford.

A lovely move this one. Alejandro Garnacho, who has been brilliant today, starts the move with a ball down the left for Bruno Fernandes, he hits it first time low across the face of goal and Christian Eriksen is there at the near post to tap in United's sixth.

Surprised Sean Dyche didn't bring England number one Jordan Pickford on for penalties.

  7. CLOSE!published at 21:35 British Summer Time 17 September

    QPR 1-2 Crystal Palace

So close to a goal that could have taken this one to penalties. It's a massive hoof forwards from home goalkeeper Joe Walsh, QPR substitute Alfie Lloyd hits it first time across goal and Dean Henderson is panicking.

But, to the anguish of the home fans, the ball goes just past the far post.

  8. PENALTY SHOOT-OUTpublished at 21:35 British Summer Time 17 September

    FT: Stoke 1-1 Fleetwood

Stoke keeper Viktor Johansson makes a brilliant save to deny Fleetwood's Phoenix Patterson - only for Tom Cannon to see his penalty saved too!

  9. No penalty - Southamptonpublished at 21:33 British Summer Time 17 September

    Everton 1-1 Southampton

Surely that's a penalty? Ashley Young with a lazy challenge on Tyler Dibling and amazingly nothing is given. That looked like a certain penalty.

    Southampton will be raging.

  10. SUBSTITUTION - Jimenez onpublished at 21:31 British Summer Time 17 September

    Preston 1-1 Fulham

Raul Jimenez comes on for Fulham, maybe to take a penalty?

  11. Postpublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 17 September

    Blackpool 0-1 Sheff Wed

Blackpool have given a decent enough account of themselves in this game against Championship opposition but, with less than five minutes to go, they've had one shot on target all night.

  12. 'Final whistle can't come quick enough'published at 21:29 British Summer Time 17 September

    Manchester United 5-0 Barnsley

    Paul Robinson
Former League Cup winning goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

That final whistle can't come quick enough for these Barnsley players.

Believe me, I've been on that Old Trafford pitch, I've been seven down and I looked up at the scoreboard and there was 20 minutes left.

I think it was probably one of the longest 20 minutes of my life, it was absolutely horrendous.

It was against the Manchester United side [with] Dimitar Berbatov, he'd already scored five against me and they were looking hungry and wanting more.

This is a little reminiscent of that.

It's a very lonely place to be when Manchester United are in this kind of mood.

  13. PENALTY SHOOT-OUTpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 17 September

    FT: Stoke 1-1 Fleetwood

Not what Ryan Shawcross and Stoke wanted but Fleetwood take it to pens!

  14. Postpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 17 September

    Manchester United 5-0 Barnsley

Alejandro Garnacho should be leaving with the match ball. He's got two goals and two assists to his name and this should have been his hat-trick.

Substitute Bruno Fernandes pulls the ball back and again it's really poor defending from Barnsley, with Garnacho unmarked eight yards out.

But he leans back and shoots wastefully over the top. Barnsley lucky that wasn't 6-0.

  15. Postpublished at 21:28 British Summer Time 17 September

    Preston 1-1 Fulham

Preston go close from a corner and are looking more threatening for a winner. Both want a winner and not penalties.

They should have saved time and gone straight to penalties after half-time.

  17. goal

GOAL - Stoke 1-1 Fleetwoodpublished at 21:25 British Summer Time 17 September

    Rhys Bennett (90+1 mins)

    HELLO!

Just as Stoke thought it was done Rhys Bennett gets free from a corner to head in. Penalties?

  18. Time running outpublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 17 September

    Everton 1-1 Southampton

Under 10 minutes to go and Everton are running out of ideas, they have plenty of the ball but aren't doing much with it.

I reckon this one could be pens.

  19. Postpublished at 21:23 British Summer Time 17 September

Into the final 15 minutes on the Lancashire coast.

Sheffield Wednesday closing in on the fourth round of this competition for the first time since 2015-16.

  20. 'It could become embarrassing'published at 21:22 British Summer Time 17 September

    Manchester United 5-0 Barnsley

    Paul Robinson
Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

They're going to have be careful Barnsley because they're still committing bodies forward and they're getting picked open at will.

One ball and they're through, in behind this Barnsley defence. It could become embarrassing unless they're careful.

They don't need to go chasing and conceding seven, eight, nine, they need to keep tight and put in some kind of performance between and now and the end of the game.
