  1. Rodgers aims for Celtic Champions League 'respect'published at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

Celtic v Young Boys (20:00 GMT)

Brendan Rodgers says his Celtic players have the chance to prove they have "matured" in the Champions League and have earned "respect" at European level should they beat Young Boys on Wednesday.

One more win will almost certainly be enough to take the Scottish champions into the knock-out phase of the competition.

"It's a great position to be in and it's a game we're really excited about," manager Rodgers said. "The Champions League story so far has been, in the main, really good for us and especially at home.

"It's been a challenging decade for this club because of resources and everything else, but I think we're starting to see that we really can compete - and not just compete but play to a level of football that's synonymous with this club."

Asked what qualification would mean, Rodgers said it would show his players had "matured" and had earned "respect" throughout Europe.

While Celtic sit 21st, with nine points from their six games, the Swiss champions lie bottom of the 36 teams, having yet to take a single point.

PSG v Man City (20:00 GMT)

    Matthew Upson
Former Arsenal and Brighton defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I am thinking this will be a positive performance, from what I have seen of Man City lately. I saw them against Brentford and I thought they were a team that were displaying the traits that have made them the best team over the last couple of seasons and I think that is coming back.

Phil Foden is key to that. Haaland is key to that and also defensively. They appear to be more confident and they are in that position where they are going to turn up here in the Champions League.

    Real Madrid v RB Salzburg

Another European giant that is in danger of missing out in the knockout rounds of the Champions League is defending champions Real Madrid. Yep, you read that correctly.

Real are currently 22nd in the table with nine points. A win over RB Salzburg will put them in a strong position for a play-off spot.

Celtic v Young Boys (20:00 GMT)

Celtic come into their penultimate league phase game in 23rd - two places above the elimination places. A win for Brendan Rodgers' side against winless Young Boys will almost certainly guarantee their spot in the knockout play-off round.

Arsenal v Dinamo Zagreb (20:00 GMT)

Arsenal are fifth in the Champions League table with 13 points, although they have lost one match in the competition, 1-0 away at Inter Milan.

If the Gunners beat Croatian opponents Dinamo Zagreb at Emirates Stadium they will put themselves in a strong position to finish in the top eight, meaning direct qualification for the last 16.

Girona away next week is Arsenal's last match in the league phase.

Manager Mikel Arteta says his team are in a "strong position" and need to take advantage of being the home side in tonight's Champions League clash

He said: "So far, we have done really well. We are in a strong position and now it's time to capitalise at home. After the work we have done for many months, we need a strong performance against a really good side and we'll try to do that."

Areta also believes that the Dinamo players, some of whom have been linked with the Gunners before, have "a lot of talent".

"They have some individuals who catch your eye. You have in your head the players who played for that club."

  10. 'I really like the new Champions League format'published at 18:46 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

PSG v Man City (20:00 GMT)

    Julien Laurens
European football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

I was waiting for a change and I really like the new format. There was a lot of drama and some can still qualify for the top eight and some can be eliminated.

I think there will be so much excitement next week when all of the games are played at the same time. It will be very exciting to see where different teams finish in the table.

  11. Man City braced for crunch nightpublished at 18:44 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

PSG v Man City (20:00 GMT)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer in Paris

It's a filthy night here in Paris with heavy rain hitting the city since late afternoon.

There is sure to be hostile atmosphere in the bowl of the Parc des Princes as both Paris St-Germain and Manchester City try to secure their futures in the Champions League.

Manchester City have shown signs of returning to something like their true form in recent games, including a 6-0 win at Ipswich Town in their last game.

    A big night awaits.

  12. Could Man City really go out?published at 18:42 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

PSG v Man City (20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Both of these teams are in danger of a shock elimination from the league phase.

They would both have been hoping to finish in the top eight to skip a knockout round, but right now they would both jump at the chance to finish 24th and squeeze through.

City currently occupy 24th spot, but only on goal difference from Dinamo Zagreb, with PSG one point behind in 26th.

Lose today and City would probably have to beat Club Bruges next week and hope that was enough.

"Of course it is a really important game for us and for PSG, but we still have another game against Bruges at home," said City boss Pep Guardiola.

"I don't know how many points we will need. Six points will be mathematically [sure], but maybe four, maybe three. But if we don't qualify we have to accept we were not good enough."

  13. Good news for Villa as Brest are trailingpublished at 18:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 Brest (at half-time)

Three points for Brest tonight would have put them in an enormously strong position for a place in the top eight. However, it's all going wrong for the French side against Shakhtar Donetsk as they trail 2-0 at half-time.

A point for Brest would knock Aston Villa out of eighth spot but Unai Emery's side remain there for now.

  14. How the bottom half lookspublished at 18:38 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

And here's a look at the bottom half of the table. Manchester City take on Paris St-Germain tonight in a huge tie in Paris.

The teams that cannot make the play-offs are Young Boys, Slovan Bratislava, RB Leipzig, Sturm Graz, Red Star Belgrade and Bologna.

  15. How the top half lookspublished at 18:36 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

Here's how the top half of the table looks (not including the two early kick-offs which are at half-time).

Liverpool and Barcelona are the only teams definitely through to the last 16.

A reminder, each team plays eight different opponents and the top eight go straight into the last 16. Those ranked from ninth to 24th will meet in two-legged play-offs to join them, with the teams from ninth to 16th seeded and therefore playing the second legs at home.

Any team that comes 25th or worse is out of this competition and out of Europe. No side drops into the Europa League.

  18. A busy night aheadpublished at 18:30 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

A pivotal night in the Champions League awaits.

Arsenal will take a big step towards the last 16 if they win at home against Dinamo Zagreb, while over in France, Manchester City need a good result against Paris St-Germain to fend off the threat of early elimination.

Celtic will also be in a great place to advance too if they win at home to Young Boys.

It promises to be a busy night of action.
