  2. 'The best team won'published at 23:28 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

    FT: PSG 4-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Man City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to Canal+: "They were better than us. They had one more man in the middle with a false nine, it was difficult to press them, in the duels they were better and in possession.

"The best team won, we have to accept it and do better. Last game against Club Brugge we will try to do it.

"I knew he [PSG manager Luis Enrique] was going to play in that way, but it's difficult, they had one more day [to prepare], they have exceptional players.

"It's in our hands, we have to win last game, we are going to try, last game at home, with our fans. We will try to qualify, if it doesn't happen it's because we don't deserve it."

    FT: PSG 4-2 Man City

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

There was an element of fortune for the City goals but it was down to driving and being positive.

Then it is just hard to explain. The distances were miles off.

When PSG got that first goal, you just knew. They were miles off it and it was just chance after chance.

    Joao Neves was outstanding.

FT: Red Star Belgrade 2-3 PSV

Andy: I'm a neutral… people always act like City are the only team in the league or world with deep pockets… United and Chelsea have spent significant sums and have not achieved the consistent success of Pep and Liverpool are hardly built on a shoestring budget. It speaks volumes really about the levels he has set that one poor season and everyone is losing their minds.

Scott: As a City fan that was a fair result, PSG were the better side in pretty much every department. Getting rid of their Galacticos has transformed them, congrats, well-deserved.

  8. Watch as Stuttgart put three past Slovanpublished at 23:19 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

    FT Arsenal 3-0 Dinamo Zagreb

    Arsenal

Arsenal's Declan Rice speaking to TNT Sport on his late miss: "I'm so annoyed, honestly, because I had the same position against Man Utd in the cup and I missed and then the same there. So I'm getting in the right positions when I play, obviously scored a good goal in the first half but I'm annoyed I didn't get a second, you know. I've got to be a bit more clinical."

On his goal: "But to get my first Champions League goal, obviously it has taken me two seasons, but I'm so happy. Hopefully many more to come."

  10. Watch as Bologna end Sahin's Dortmund reignpublished at 23:15 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

  11. The first knockout game of this year's Champions Leaguepublished at 23:14 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

    FT: PSG 4-2 Man City

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

City are at home against Club Brugge in their final game, which is a big advantage - however, the fact they have played themselves into this position where they need to win to progress is alarming.

It is the first knockout game of this year's Champions League because Brugge need a result too. So it will be two teams going toe-to-toe and, at this point, who knows what the result might be.

You can hear more from Onuoha on MOTD: Uefa Champions League on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

Chris: I’m trying to think of something funnier than Man City finishing fifth in the Premier League, but missing out on next year’s Champions League because we don’t get the extra place due to their own performances in Europe this season.

  14. 'City were in control before they went 2-0 up'published at 23:09 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

    FT: PSG 4-2 Man City

    Gary Cahill
Former Chelsea and Aston Villa defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a big game for both sides and it looked like Man City were cruising. Before they went 2-0 up, they were controlling play.

That is something that seems to be lacking at times for Manchester City at the moment.

  15. Watch as Atletico score late winner against Leverkusenpublished at 23:07 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

FT: Atletico Madrid 2-1 Bayer Leverkusen

This game was always going to be a cracker and that's what it was. Two red cards and a 90th minute winner later, Atletico took the points. Watch the highlights from last night.

  16. 'I don't know if it's a confidence thing'published at 23:05 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

    FT: PSG 4-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish speaking to TNT Sports: "I don't know what happened. Usually in those moments we're so good, it's happened too many times this season where we've gone one, two, three goals up and we've not be able to control the game and see it out.

"It's weird because in every other season we've been so good in those moments, managing the game. I don't know if it's a confidence thing, for most of this season we've not been at the levels we know we can be. It's down to ourselves to try and change that moving forward and to try and win the game next week.

"It's difficult, I don't know if it's a confidence thing, we had so many players on the pitch when we went 2-0 up that are so good at keeping the ball. We've not been doing that recently.

"Credit to Paris, they were so good, Very energetic. A lot better than I thought - I don't mean that in a bad way but they were top tonight, a really good team. I think they deserved to win."

Oh dear me...even Celtic are guaranteed to finish above Man City. Total shambles from the reigning Premier League champions.

  19. 'Man City's confidence has been dented'published at 23:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

    FT: PSG 4-2 Man City

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

The confidence has been dented. You can't just walk into the supermarket and buy confidence off the shelf.

They are not quite there physically either but I think that is down to the confidence and the want to go and get tight to your man. Once you get that sinking feeling, it is going to fall apart.

  20. Massive for Celtic, massive for Scottish footballpublished at 23:00 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

    FT: Celtic 1-0 Young Boys

    Chris Sutton
Former Celtic striker on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

Because of who they were playing, before the game this felt like an open goal for Celtic - but it looked like it was turning into one of those nights for them.

They had so many opportunities in the first half but then in the second half they looked tired and lacked a spark - Young Boys had the better of things and Celtic had Kasper Schmeichel to thank for keeping them out.

Then just when it looked like the game was petering out, they got the bit of luck they needed.

Had they not won, they would be going to Aston Villa for their final game with their place in the play-offs up in the air, but now they know they are in the top 24 - it is massive for them, and massive for Scottish football.

You can hear more from Sutton on MOTD: Uefa Champions League on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.
