More from Manchester City goalkeeper Khiara Keating speaking to BBC Two:

On aims for the coming years: "Hopefully to be England number one in the next five years. But in the meantime winning more trophies with the team and doing what I can.

On biggest lesson this season: "That I can get over the hard times and not dwell on them too long. There were moments this season where I have doubted my ability and what I can do so having the right people around me, knowing it is only a mistake is really important.

"The more games and the more minutes you play, the more you learn. The team believed in my and I think that showed on the pitch because I had the confidence to do what I have done.

On what it means to be number one: "It is every girl's dream to play for the club they have supported and to do it at such a young age where I didnt expect to be in the first team yet, week in and week out, is quite a proud moment."

Aston Villa manager Carla Ward, speaking on BBC Two: "At half-time we weren't happy, I thought we were too passive but they were still hurting us and creating chances. Disappointing because we wanted to get something.

I'm delighted with the last three years but I'm delighted that we've done a job today.

On leaving Aston Villa: "It's been tough because I love the club, I love the fans, I love the players. I'm knackered, I really am. My daughter doesn't see me enough. I think I need a bit of a breather and to spend the summer holidays with her. I won't be away long, I was stood on the sideline thinking 'you love it' but I'll be back for sure."

On her long-term plans: "Summer holiday at 6am tomorrow with the little one. If I'm being really honest, go and self-develop, have a break, recharge. Who knows, when sacking season comes along I might get myself another job."

    Bless them.

It is a horrible way to go out for Steph Houghton but she won't be remembered for this game or the results today. She will be remembered for what she has done for the women's game for countless years to bring it to the position it is in today.

  5. How it finishedpublished at 17:25 British Summer Time 18 May

We thought we might get drama. We didn't.

It was a thumping win for Chelsea in the end. They meant business and they got it done.

  6. 'We knew what we had to do and we didn't quite get it done'published at 17:24 British Summer Time 18 May

FT: Aston Villa 1-2 Manchester City

    Manchester City

Manchester City goalkeeper Khiara Keating speaking to BBC Two: "Obviously we are disappointed. We wanted to go out and win a trophy today. We knew what we had to do and we didn't quite get it done. Hoepfully next season in the Champions League we can show what we're about and go and win some trophies.

"From a personal point of view, my breakout season, had a lot to prove at the start of the season, everyone was kind of.. not doubting but wondering what I'd be like. I hope I've shown everyone what I can do.

On proving the doubters wrong: "When you are young and have experienced keepers like Sandy and Ellie on the bench, it is one of those things that people think, 'She's young, she might not be ready.' But I think I showed I am ready and I can't wait for next season.

On being the youngest ever Golden Glove winner: "It is a proud moment for me and my family and I couldn't have done it without my team. As a back line we have been excellent this season, rarely let in any goals. When it counts we need to be a but sharper, but the Golden Glove is a proud moment for me and my family.

On showing her personality in her play: "I am quite calm on the pitch. I don't think people would say that off the pitch but on it I'm calm. Gaz [Taylor] put his faith in me to go and play how I play and that is what I needed to go out there and do what I did this season."

Celebrations are well under way for the Blues and I don't imagine they will be letting up any time soon.

  8. 'It could've been so much more'published at 17:20 British Summer Time 18 May

FT: Aston Villa 1-2 Manchester City

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor, speaking to BBC Two: "A mix of emotions really. I feel really proud of the team's performance. The mad thing is we could have maybe scored double figures today quite easily, that's the difference. To win 18 games in the season and still come up short is not easy but we have. It's been a big push from the team, we've worked incredibly hard, and we'll come back fighting."

On feeling like it wouldn't be their way: "Their goalkeeper was making inspired saves. For me it was about winning the game in the end, I was really proud to win the game in the end. It could've been so much more, so much more."

On what they'll learn from this season: "We need to improve in all areas. We have to have potentially better options from the sidelines, I think that's really key. Recruitment is really key and we'll continue to work with good young players who have really stepped up."

On Vivianne Miedema: "We look at all the options. Losing Bunny [Shaw], losing Jill [Roord] were big blows for us. Some other teams it doesn't impact as much because they have the strength in depth. We're working towards that, that's where we want to get to and it's an enjoyable part of the process."

On rallying the group ahead of next season: "I'm so enthusiastic about the way we played today. A lot of the stuff we did was really good. That's what inspires me to get up in the morning and fight for next season's title."

Chelsea captain Millie Bright, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was pretty special but when half the country writes you off... we've got the monster mentality, we've shown it season after season.

"We were given a second chance, they don't often but you have to take them and we did. We beat Bristol City, beat Tottenham and we've come here and put on a five-star performance to take this title.

"It's extra special to get it for Emma [Hayes] and the players who are leaving us.

"We were up against a tough opponent and we needed a 10 out of 10 performance. Every player was incredible.

"That's our standards, we shouldn't be underestimated to make this sort of comeback because we're defending champions.

"It's been an emotional season for Emma especially. We picked her up [after the loss at Liverpool] like she does for us everyday."

You have to be near-perfect to win the title in the WSL - it's the same in the Premier League. If you lose a game pretty much the title is over. That is how good Chelsea are, they are near perfection.

Yes, missing out on the title will hurt these Manchester City players but this experience today will do them good moving forwards.

They haven't been in this position much over the last few years, getting close to Chelsea at the end of the season. The experience, or lack of it has told for City today.

They created a number of chances in front of goal today but were not calm and composed enough in the moments that they needed to be. This group of players will learn from this season, a young team lacking experience but they will learn from it moving forwards.

Everything went right. Everything that Chelsea wanted to happen happened today.

A great start, game almost won after 15 minutes, Ramirez on fire.

Being able to bring on the players that have done so much for the club and give them the send-off they deserve. That doesn't just happen. The players were possessed today.

As you can imagine, there is an outpouring of emotion from Chelsea's fans, players and staff.

Substitutes were waiting with their arms around Emma Hayes ready to run onto the pitch at full-time.

They did, then sprinted past her, as captain Millie Bright came back the other way to jump into Hayes' arms.

The players are now posing for photos in front of their fans and Sam Kerr has somehow made her way down there quicker than I could spell 'champions'.
