Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor says his side "know exactly what they need to do" to win a first WSL title since 2016.

Taylor has never lifted the league title with the club and it would complete his set of domestic trophies if his side were to get over the line today.

"We know exactly what we have to do," he said.

"We have a great chance. Are we capable of going and scoring four? Yes we are. We’ve done it, we know we are capable.

"It doesn’t mean you can go and do it of course. For me it’s more of a feeling. This team can score three or four goals in the space of five or six minutes."

  2. Closest title race ever?published at 13:49 British Summer Time 18 May

The WSL title race has gone down to the final game in each of the past four seasons, but Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor said this time feels different.

"All we wanted to be was in a position. The final game, the league is set up to be this way. None have been as close as this," he said.

A 2-1 loss to Arsenal last time out before Chelsea overturned their goal-difference deficit with a 8-0 thumping of Bristol City left the fate of the title out of City's hands.

Taylor said that defeat made his players "angry", and they are keen to put it right.

"The players have dusted themselves down really quickly," he said. "There was a feeling of frustration, and probably anger, and that is perfectly fine and perfectly normal.

"Life gives you another chance on occasions and we know exactly what we have to do.

"The players are ready, the players are hungry. I can see the light in their eyes and they are ready for this game."

Chelsea's narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham in midweek means while Taylor's side will need to a score a few goals, it's not quite a mountain.

Whatever the result it will be an emotional day at Old Trafford today.

After 12 years in charge, Chelsea boss Emma Hayes will say goodbye to the club she has brought so much success before heading stateside to take over as United States women boss.

Six Women's Super League titles, five FA Cups and two League Cups.

It is quite the legacy that Hayes is leaving behind.

But today, the players are going to have to keep all those emotions in check. They've still got a job to do.

  4. A missed opportunity for City?published at 13:42 British Summer Time 18 May

City start today second in the WSL. If they finish the day in that same position, there may be a feeling of an opportunity missed.

While Chelsea so often seem like a relentless title-winning machine, it was in City's hands. They won at Kingsmeadow, built a six-point lead and when Chelsea lost at Liverpool they looked within touching distance.

But a shaky first half at Bristol City - leading to a comparatively paltry 4-0 win compared to Chelsea's 8-0 hammering of the Robins - and a disastrous last few minutes against Arsenal have put the Blues back in the hot seat, and could leave City boss Gareth Taylor with a few regrets come full time.

  5. Who will come out on top in WSL title race?published at 13:40 British Summer Time 18 May

Right, let's get into the nitty gritty.

Chelsea sit top of the WSL, level on points with Manchester City but ahead by two on goal difference.

If either side drop points, the other will win the title.

If both teams win, City need to better Chelsea's margin of victory by at least three goals to win the title. If both teams lose, Chelsea have the superior goal difference and would win the league.

If, at the end of today's games, goal difference is level, the title outcome will be decided on goals scored - and Chelsea currently lead City 65-59 on that metric.

If teams are level on both goal difference and goals scored, the next deciding factor is the number of league wins, followed by head-to-head record against their title rivals. City would edge a head-to-head against Chelsea, having won away and drawn at home.

We'll keep you up to date with how things stand throughout the afternoon as the goals go in.

    The stage is set!

It all comes down to the final day where defending champions Chelsea, winners of the past four WSL titles, will have to get a job done at Old Trafford to give manager Emma Hayes a proper send-off.

It's a tough place to come with United on a high, fresh from their victory in the Women's FA Cup final at Wembley.

The FA Cup trophy is on parade in the tunnel entrance and some lucky fans were able to pose for a photo with it before kick-off.

That may not be the only trophy we see here today though...

The FA are prepared for both scenarios so now we just have to wait to see which team will be lifting the WSL trophy - Chelsea or Manchester City.
