Easy Arsenal win incoming, can't see anything else really - Leicester have been awful this season.

    Simon

Christian (re 11.52) as a fellow Liverpool I can but hope but Leicester are dire and can't see anything but an Arsenal win even with no strikers.

    Alan, West Sussex

    Arsenal to score 4+ today.

  4. Can Leicester stem the goal tide?published at 12:26 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Leicester v Arsenal (12.30 GMT)

Leicester have gone 17 league matches since they last kept a clean sheet - a 1-0 win over Bournemouth last October.

The 53 goals they’ve conceded in the Premier League this campaign is their most after 24 top-flight games since 1958-59.

Mads Hermansen is the man with the gloves today - Leicester have named three different starting keepers in the league this season. He faces a tough task.

    Leicester v Arsenal (12.30 GMT)

Arsenal are on a run of six straight league wins against Leicester, including three in a row at King Power Stadium.

Their last defeat away to Leicester was a 2-0 loss in November 2019. Jamie Vardy scored the opener, because of course he did.

Leicester have lost their last four successive top-flight home games without scoring.

Only three sides have ever lost five home matches in a row while failing to score.

  7. All doom and gloom at Arsenal?published at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

    Leicester v Arsenal (12.30 GMT)

Given some of the recent negativity around the Gunners, particularly concerning injuries, you might be forgiven in thinking they were having a tough season.

Far from it. They are unbeaten in 14 league games, winning nine and drawing five. Arsenal last fared better in 2010-11, with a 16-match unbeaten streak under Arsene Wenger.

I think the false nine, with Leandro Trossard playing that role, is something similar to what Kai Havertz does. Obviously they're different profiles of players in terms of height and movements.

I think for Arsenal fans this could be a dangerous period with Havertz missing, but I think with Trossard you've got quality there.

Raheem Sterling has experience in this league and hasn't really kicked on at Arsenal, but this is his opportunity now.

Arsenal have their first choice goalkeeper, most of the defence, main midfielders and still have a strong attack. Not sure what they are complaining about.

Is Arsenal missing a handful of players really an "injury nightmare"? Try telling that to Ange, who has been missing 10 to 14 senior players for months, yet keeps getting told it shouldn't be an excuse for poor form.

Former Leicester City striker Matty Fryatt believes Jamie Vardy will "relish" the challenge of facing Arsenal as he returns to the starting XI today.

Vardy has a record of 11 goals in 17 games against the Gunners, and Foxes boss Ruud van Nistelrooy confirmed on Thursday the forward is ready for selection.

Speaking on BBC Radio Leicester's When You're Smiling podcast, Fryatt said: "Vardy's just got that knack, hasn't he? He's still got that fire and determination within himself to keep on going.

"At times in games he's been anonymous this season, but then other times he steps up at the right moment.

"He's got a great record against Arsenal and he'll want that to continue."

While Arsenal have these issues, they still have a strong front three.

Kai Havertz, who has adopted that number nine position, has played as false nine.

Raheem Sterling will have to do a similar role, and against this Leicester side Arsenal will create chances to score goals.

Perhaps it’s because I don’t support any of the “big clubs,” but I miss watching prime Raheem Sterling. There was a time when he was capable of being the focal point of any team in the world. He was once the perfect foil to Harry Kane for England, too. I still don’t understand quite what happened.

  16. Do we really have a title race?published at 12:09 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February

Liverpool currently lead the Premier League by seven points, with every team (except Brighton and Chelsea who met last night) having played 24 games.

Only one team in Premier League history has had as big a points lead as Liverpool at this stage of a season and not won the title – Newcastle in 1995-96

Liverpool are the eighth team in Premier League history to have 57 points after 24 games – but perhaps surprisingly, of the previous seven, four of them went on to win the title while three did not.

A bit more 50-50 than you expected, Liverpool fans? It isn’t quite as precarious as it sounds.

Man Utd and Arsenal both had 57 points at this stage in 2007-08 and obviously only one of those could win the title.

Arsenal had the same number of points as Liverpool at this stage two years ago but had a smaller lead and were being chased by a peak Man City side.

The only team to have 57 points and a bigger lead at this stage and not win the title was Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle in 1995-96.

The Magpies took 12 more points than any other side from the first 24 games but famously fell away and finished runners-up to Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man Utd.

Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy, speaking to TNT Sports: "It's good to have them important players for us and they have done well.

"With Jamie [Vardy], he can get a goal and it's important for us on the number side of things.

"Against United we got up again and showed a good performance. With the small offside situation we didn't go into extra-time. We want to show these performances.

"It's what the standards should be - prepare yourself for the best."

Will Sterling be in 'run down blind alleys when he should pass' mode today? Or 'knock it past his defender out for a goal kick' mode? I'm excited to find out.

This match presents a big chance for Raheem Sterling. Things haven't gone to plan since his loan move from Chelsea in the summer so far.

He's scored one goal this season but today is just his fourth start in the Premier League.

Sterling would argue that he has not had a run of games but he should get those with Arsenal's injury crisis in the attacking areas.

If Sterling goes on a goalscoring run and helps Arsenal to chase down Liverpool he will change the way he is remembered by supporters.

No surprises with that Arsenal line-up. Any attacking subs will be interesting though. I’ve heard shouts for Tierney on at LW to pump crosses into Merino as a makeshift forward? Desperate times may call for desperate measures.
