Dundee United v Aberdeen has just got started, so we'll wrap this up.

Look out for reaction from the three o'clock starts on our club pages.

The Scottish Premiership is almost done with 2024 but we don't have to wait long for our next fix.

All 12 clubs are back on 2 January, with Rangers v Celtic and a Dundee derby topping the bill.

    See you in 2025!

  2. Cadden delivers for Hibs againpublished at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    FT: Hibernian 1-0 Kilmarnock

Not a classic at Easter Road, given the gusty conditions.

Nicky Cadden set up the winner in the Edinburgh derby and it was his cracking delivery that was nodded in by Nectar Triantis today.

A fourth clean sheet of the season will please manager David Gray, with Kilmarnock kept very quiet.

You have to give Dundee huge credit. Manager Tony Docherty will be without key centre-half Antonio Portales until mid-February. He then watched two other defenders, Jordan McGhee and Billy Koumetio, come off injured within 25 minutes.

Still his men had enough to get the job done, thanks to the calm head of Simon Murray. Two goals, two headers, three massive points. A sizeable and noisy travelling support is now looking forward to a sold-out Dundee derby at Dens on Thursday with a little extra relish.

For St Mirren, it seemed a game too far. Following the energy-sapping win over Rangers last time out, they just didn't have enough quality to break down a makeshift but sturdy Dundee defence but such has been their recent form, the Buddies can still reflect on a fine 2024 and a recent record that reads played ten, won six, lost only three.

Both these sides have eyes on another top six finish and you wouldn't bet against it, especially when Dundee get some key players fit again.

    FT: Motherwell 2-2 Rangers

It could have been worse, given the half-time score, but Rangers have now dropped points in five of their nine away games in the league this season.

  5. FULL-TIME Motherwell 2-2 Rangerspublished at 17:04 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

A wild game is, finally, brought to a close.

Motherwell were dreaming of a first league win against Rangers at Fir Park since Boxing Day 2002 when Apostolos Stamatelopoulous and Tawanda Maswanhise had them ahead at half-time.

However, substitute Hamza Igamane hauled Rangers back with a second-half brace.

Substitute Tony Watt had the ball in the net twice when it was 2-1 to the hosts, but referee Kevin Clancy ruled both efforts out.

A frantic afternoon at Fir Park ends with Rangers 14 points behind league leaders Celtic.

James Wilson's double had Hearts in control but they end the day in 11th place, two points behind the hosts.

    FT: St Mirren 1-2 Dundee

A couple of headers from Simon Murray provides all three points for Dundee and brings an end to their run of three consecutive Scottish Premiership defeats.

St Mirren lose for the first time in four matches but will still finish 2024 inside the top six.

After failing to clear a corner, Josh Nisbet fired in a loose ball from all of six yards out.

Can they find a late leveller?

  11. FULL-TIME Hibernian 1-0 Kilmarnockpublished at 16:56 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

Hibernian seal a fourth consecutive victory after Nectar Triantis' netted the only goal of the game with a first-half header.

The victory sees seventh-place Hibernian move three points clear of their opponents, who finished the match with 10 men following Danny Armstrong's dismissal.

  12. FULL-TIME Celtic 4-0 St Johnstonepublished at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

Celtic continue to cruise at the top of the Premiership table with a comfortable victory over struggling St Johnstone.

Despite a solid first half display, Brendan Rodgers' side punished the visitors in the second and no wonder when you can bring the likes of Daizen Maeda and Callum McGregor off the bench.

More misery for St Johnstone as they end the year three points adrift at the bottom of the Premiership table.

The lofty forward is back on and play resumes.

    Hibernian 1-0 Kilmarnock

Against depleted opponents, Hibs are holding onto possession and putting in a spirited defensive showing that we may not have seen from David Gray's side as recently as last month.

Forward pair Bruce Anderson and Innes Cameron have had very little to work off since their introductions, with the Hibs defence marking both men effectively.
