  1. Buddies a home banker?published at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    St Mirren v Dundee (15:00)

St Mirren have won three on the bounce, while Dundee have lost three in a row without scoring.

St Mirren have won five of their last six home league games against Dundee.

Everything points to three points for the hosts, who will be in fine fettle after grabbing a last-minute winner to beat Rangers 2-1, but the visitors will surely be fired up to show a reaction after their terrible home defeat to Ross County.

  2. Dingwall set for ding-dong battle?published at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Ross County v Hearts (15:00)

This is a biggie... Hearts sit second bottom after a sore home derby defeat. Ross County leapfrogged the Jambos with a 3-0 victory at Dundee - their first away success in the top flight in 15 months.

Hearts have just one win on their Premiership travels this season but have only lost three of their 30 league meetings with the Staggies over the years.

  3. Rangers rocky on the roadpublished at 14:29 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Motherwell v Rangers (15:00)

Rangers may have moved up to second place over the festive period but the mood quickly changed after Boxing Day's 2-1 defeat at St Mirren.

Philippe Clement's side have now lost 50% of their eight away matches in the Premiership and face another potentially tricky task today.

Motherwell last celebrated a home win over Rangers in the 2015 play-offs, but did manage a victory at Ibrox last season.

Both of this campaign's previous meetings were at Hampden - in the league and League Cup - and both finished 2-1 to Rangers.

  4. Hibs and Killie on the up...published at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Hibernian v Kilmarnock (15:00)

A month ago Hibs were at the foot of the table, with just one win from 14 games. Now they are in seventh spot and looking to win four successive league matches for the first time since October 2022.

Kilmarnock are hot on the heels of the Easter Road side, with the same record of five wins and six draws from their 19 outings, but they have lost their last five visits to EH7.

The visitors have only one defeat from their past six matches and will be feeling good after putting four past Aberdeen, while Hibs fans will have an extra spring in their steps following a first derby win at Tynecastle in five years.

  5. A vintage year for leaders Celticpublished at 14:25 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Celtic v St Johnstone (15:00)

It's been a very good 2024 for Celtic, with just two defeats in all competitions, collecting three trophies along the way. Their only league loss was back in early March at home to Hearts.

Those stats don't look likely to change today, given the 33-point gap between the sides.

It was 6-0 to Celtic when they visited Perth earlier this season and St Johnstone have not won at Celtic Park since March 2015.

  6. Iacovitti in for St Mirren; Portales not in Dundee squadpublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    St Mirren v Dundee (15:00)

Stephen Robinson makes one change to the side that shocked Rangers on Boxing Day as Alex Iacovitti replaces Richard Taylor in central defence.

Antonio Portales fails to make Dundee's squad after suffering a hamstring injury in Thursday's 3-0 defeat by Ross County. Scott Tiffoney drops to the bench in the only other change as Finlay Robertson and Seb Palmer-Houlden return to the starting XI.

  7. Youan out for Hibs; Kilmarnock unchangedpublished at 14:21 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Hibernian v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Elie Youan misses out entirely following Hibernian's Edinburgh derby victory. Junior Hoilett beats Boxing Day hero Dwight Gayle to the Frenchman's spot up top.

David Gray also opts to bring in Lewis Miller as a replacement for defender Warren O'Hora, who has been nursing an ankle issue in recent weeks and drops to the bench.

Kilmarnock go unchanged following their resounding 4-0 victory over Aberdeen.

Centre-back Robbie Deas returns to the bench after serving a suspension, while Matty Kennedy and Stuart Findlay remain sidelined.

  8. Nisbet starts for County; Hearts miss Shanklandpublished at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Ross County v Hearts (15:00)

The only change to the County side from the 3-0 win over Dundee is Josh Nisbet, who comes in to replace Aidan Denholm in midfield.

Denholm can't play his parent club, and he also picked up an injury. Either way, he's out. Ricki Lamie is among the subs.

Hearts are without Lawrence Shankland, as the captain misses out with a calf issue, with Cammy Devlin suspended and Craig Halkett dropped to the bench.

In their place come Adam Forrester, Jorge Grant, and Liam Boyce - despite the latter two rumoured to be leaving in January. Yutaro Oda returns to the bench.

  9. Halliday returns for Well; Dessers one of seven Rangers changespublished at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Motherwell v Rangers (15:00)

Three changes for Motherwell from the team who lost four goals to Celtic.

Liam Gordon is back in the defence, while Andy Halliday returns in the middle of the park. Apostolos Stamatelopoulos leads the line for Stuart Kettlewell's side.

Captain Paul McGinn is back on the bench today, too.

Unhappy with defeat to St Mirren three days ago, Phillipe Clement has made seven changes to his Rangers team.

Robin Propper starts after replacing the injured Leon Balogun early doors on Thursday, while Ridvan Yilmaz slots in at left-back.

Nico Raskin and Kieran Dowell come into the midfield, while Oscar Cortes makes his first start back from injury.

Danilo and Cyriel Dessers are tasked with doing the business up top.

  10. Celtic rest McGregor; five changes for St Johnstonepublished at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Celtic v St Johnstone (15:00)

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has made five changes from the side that defeated Motherwell 4-0 on Boxing Day.

Alistair Johnston returns at right-back, Anthony Ralston drops to the bench. Greg Taylor, skipper Callum McGregor, Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah are replaced by Alex Valle, Reo Hatate, Nicolas Kuhn and Kyogo Furuhashi.

Simo Valakari has also made five changes to the side that were beaten 2-1 by Dundee United. Jason Holt, Graham Carey, Drey Wright, Benjamin Kimpioka and David Keltjens are out. Andre Raymond, Nicky Clark, Essel, Matt Smith and Fran Franczak are in.

The games keep coming thick and fast in the Scottish Premiership, with all 12 clubs involved again following their Boxing Day exertions.

We have top v bottom as Celtic host St Johnstone and an interesting basement battle as Hearts visit Ross County.

Rangers are at Motherwell after another loss on the road in Paisley, while St Mirren and Hibernian are looking to make it four victories in a row at home to Dundee and Kilmarnock respectively.

There's also an early evening kick-off at Tannadice, with Dundee United aiming to add to Aberdeen's current woes.
