  1. 'Just delighted the boys have three points'published at 16:32 GMT

    FT: Nott'm Forest 3-1 Leeds

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White, speaking to BBC MOTD: "Not bad. Just delighted the boys have three points. They're a good physical side. I thought we dominated from minute one to minute 90. Hopefully, we can climb up the table.

"Fair play to Omari, he's been going through a tough period. It was all his work, I was just in the box.

"It was that extra bit of pressure because we needed to get the points on the table. When we got our chances, we took them. We focus on the next game now.

On missing out on England squad: "That's football and the competition of the England squad. Incredible players I'm fighting for a spot. All I can do is focus on Nottingham Forest, that's all I can do. Personally, it's been a tough couple of months in the season.

"He [Thomas Tuchel] had a conversation with me after the Europa League game. He's a really honest guy and the fact that he called me to tell me I wasn't in the squad, I really appreciated that.

"We've struggled to settle with the changes. We are the players and it's down to us. That's all we can do and concentrate on ourselves and kick on."

Brentford captain Nathan Collins speaking to Sky Sports: "Unbelievable. We come at home and we always have faith. Here, we are a bit of a menace of a team."

On Igor Thiago: "He is not bad is he! He is alright. He works so hard every day and he deserves everything he gets."

On the win: "I didn't think we were bad and probably didn't create enough but we knew we had to ramp it up again and we did.

"It is so awkward against 10 men and you think you should dominate. You have to be composed and get the third goal and we did.

"We just keep winning games and if he keeps scoring goals, we can keep going higher."

An impressive performance from Aston Villa on the back of their European conquest in the week. You never know how much energy they will have [after European football] but the intensity in the first half blew Bournmouth away.

Barring a 20 minute spell at the start of the second half, Villa were well worthy of scoring four goals and maybe more.

  4. Unai Emery manages his squad so wellpublished at 16:27 GMT

    Wayne Rooney
    BBC MOTD pundit

That was really good from Villa today. Unai Emery manages his squad so well with playing in Europe and he has so much experience of playing Sunday-Thursday. It showed today with the way they came out against Bournemouth so full of energy.

Emery’s team are on a brilliant run after their bad start and they are looking like the Villa of last season. That’s down to the experience of the manager. I’ve been very impressed with them in the last two months.

I am slightly surprised Thomas Tuchel has left Ollie Watkins out of the England squad. He played very well today, had a few chances and was unlucky not to get a goal. His work rate was excellent.

You can hear more from Rooney on MOTD at 22:30 BST on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

  5. 'Our balance is better'published at 16:24 GMT

    FT: Aston Villa 4-0 Bournemouth

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery speaking to Sky Sports:

"I am very happy with the win. We are recovering from a bad start to the season.

"The effort physically was a huge effort and to manage the squad with different players with the effort we needed we can feel proud after the game.

"This is the level of the players. We are trying to set our standards in everything, every day how we prepare the game and the quality of the players is important. Fantastic goal and Emi has this quality to score set piece goals. How the players got the commitment before the match to focus and in the way we played is really something. This is how we are building and trying to recover, feeling better in the league and Europa League to get the performances we need for the future.

"Now our balance is better in the squad with the players, more focus and getting the challenges we have. The players are responding well on the field.

"Very important how we finished today, winning and feeling good."

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola speaking to BBC MOTD:

"Everything has gone wrong from the beginning, we had the clash and had to make the change. It's not a reason to lose. I am worried about the first half. We were poor defensively, it's a warning from the league. Two difficult away games but we have not been at our level.

"Three goals from set plays. The first is an amazing goal from Emi Buendia. Three goals from set pieces is too much but it's not just this we have to focus on the things we can do. We were pushing them a lot in the second half, more like us, but this first 45 minutes worry me a bit.

"We hit the post, had the penalty, clear chances to score at 2-1 and make the end of the game more nervous for them. But we didn't take them, you have to punish them and we didn't."

On Adam Smith: "It was a very hard knock, he was bleeding and I don't know if he lost consciousness but he didn't was not feeling well to continue. I feel more calm now because I talked to him and he's fine, he remembers everything. In the moment it was a hard knock and I hope it's not something more serious."

  7. 'I thank God for everything'published at 16:16 GMT

    FT: Brentford 3-1 Newcastle

    Brentford

Brentford striker Igor Thiago speaking to Sky Sports: " I am happy with my performance and thank you God for everything he gives me every day. We just keep going."

Where do you get your talent from? "From God. He gave me everything. Where I come from. it is so hard, and it comes from him.

"The way we work every single day. Together, everyone does our job, and then on the pitch the things come easy."

  8. 'Wasn't good enough'published at 16:11 GMT

    FT: Aston Villa 4-0 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth's Lewis Cook speaking to Sky Sports:

"We're up against a top team, no one should underestimate the players they've got. We weren't pressing with the intent they were. Second half we were more ourselves but then things changed."

On what manager said at half time: "He wasn't happy at all. We didn't show what we're about. We've set such high standards for ourselves the last couple of seasons. He wanted more intensity and belief.

"We're not a team that loses 4-0 and thinks it's acceptable. We have to learn from it. It's come at a time where players are leaving [on international break] so we have to analyse and reflect when we're back together.

"The first half wasn't good enough. We didn't deserve to go in at half time drawing or winning. These things happen in football. We've got players that have won us games this season but sometimes it doesn't work out."

Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White, speaking to Sky Sports: "Massive win. We went 1-0 and it didn't feel like we deserved that. The boys defended great and we took out chances. The boys who came on helped the team. We got the three points and got it done.

On Hutchinson: "He's been through a tough period recently. He stayed resilient and strong. He proved today why he should be in the 11.

"Delighted to get another goal but more importantly we got the win."

There has been plenty of fireworks around this week but none at Selhurst Park. Both teams were huffing and puffing and there has been no real quality on the pitch.

From Crystal Palace's perspective you can understand [European fatigue]. Maybe both teams will be happy with a point a piece.
