It was a great ball in and that's the second time from a free-kick Newcastle have won the first header.

Hojbjerg just gets there in time and he had a gut feeling. Good defending.

  2. CLOSE!published at 20:05 GMT 25 November

So, so close to the opener for Newcastle!

Sandro Tonali delivers the free-kick right on the head of Malick Thiaw but it's cleared off the line.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:04 GMT 25 November

    A really silly one.

You can tell Pep feels like this is an opportunity to get minutes into players, a lot of matches coming up in December. It's a little bit of a risk from Guardiola, the bench is strong, but he still needs to get a result.

    Marseille 0-0 Newcastle

The corner is cleared only to the edge of the box where Bruno Guimaraes takes it on his chest and slips just as he hits the volley.

  7. 'Newcastle playing with a back three'published at 20:03 GMT 25 November

    Marseille 0-0 Newcastle

    Glenn Hoddle
Former England and Tottenham manager on TNT Sports

This an incredible atmosphere and they will take every bit of advantage that they can. It's interesting that Newcastle are playing as a back three with Livramento as a left wing-back and Murphy as the right wing-back.

    They can switch it up.

  8. Postpublished at 20:02 GMT 25 November

    Man City 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen

Oscar Bobb makes a lovely turn down the right-hand side to get away from his man and tries to play a one-two with Omar Marmoush but Bobb's next pass is straight to the feet of a Leverkusen player on the edge of the penalty box.

  9. Postpublished at 20:02 GMT 25 November

    Marseille 0-0 Newcastle

The atmosphere at the Stade Velodrome is incredible, as expected. Interesting to see how Newcastle deal with this but they start well with Harvey Barnes sending a ball in towards Anthony Gordon.

    Corner.

  10. 'Chelsea need 11 or 12 points'published at 20:02 GMT 25 November

    Chelsea 0-0 Barcelona

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

This game is massively important for Chelsea. I think it might even be more important than their upcoming match against Arsenal. The numbers say it all, Chelsea need to get to 11 or 12 points.

I just hope it is a good, fast start. I think it helps that both teams will be going out there to win. When that happens, you almost always get an exciting game of football with lots of chances.

Chelsea displayed a new banner before the match reading: "Chelsea, King of Clubs".

It highlights how they added the Club World Cup to their substantial trophy cabinet that includes all three European trophies, having won the Conference League last season.

Pep Guardiola walked out to take charge of his 100th game for Manchester City in the Champions League, lifting off his helmet and raising his bat to all four corners of the ground.

The milestone means he's got more centuries this month than any England batters have managed.

  15. 'Difficult to call who will be Chelsea's false nine'published at 19:59 GMT 25 November

    Chelsea v Barcelona (20:00 GMT)

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stamford Bridge

Moises Caicedo's first job will be to make sure that nothing breaks into that backline tonight. Reece James, who will be playing alongside him, is very good at that as well.

That should give Enzo Fernandez a bit of scope to break further forward, so I expect to see him in more advanced positions.

It's difficult to call who will be Chelsea's false nine because it could be Estevao Willian but I've seen them do it with Pedro Neto as well.

It's not just Haaland who is on the bench, it's a 2nd XI. Pep must be relying on making subs to win this.

Everybody at Chelsea knows the importance of this game and they will be fired up. Chelsea are a young team, they want to play well and they want to win against Barcelona.

Chelsea have the possibility to do this because they are in a good moment.

  18. Postpublished at 19:58 GMT 25 November

Man City v Bayer Leverkusen (20:00 GMT)

With Manchester City's up and down form this season, pundits have suggested that the presence of Erling Haaland up top and the goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was always going to stand Pep Guardiola's side in good stead.

Tonight, they're testing the waters without both of them.

    Could the test backfire?

  19. 'Newcastle can't get caught in the headlights'published at 19:57 GMT 25 November

    Marseille v Newcastle (20:00 GMT)

    Joe Cole
Former Chelsea and England midfielder on TNT Sports

They have got to be alive. You can't allow yourself to get caught in the headlights with the atmosphere.

You have got to stop the rhythm of a De Zerbi side. They have got to look for space in behind.

  20. Chelsea tried to sign Barcelona's Lopezpublished at 19:56 GMT 25 November

    Chelsea v Barcelona (20:00 GMT)

    Nizaar Kinsella
BBC Sport Chelsea reporter at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea made a tentative first offer for Barcelona attacker Fermin Lopez over the summer but it quickly became clear that it would take a substantial bid to sign him.

Since then, Fermin has become an automatic starter and taken Dani Olmo's spot, while the Blues signed Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton instead.

That's another interesting little connection before the match.
