Summary

  1. Postpublished at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Cardiff

No changes by either manager at the break - and another thing that hasn't changed is Wednesday looking sloppy at times in possession.

The Owls give the ball away inside their own half and Yakou Meite gallops towards goal but then drags the ball rather tamely across the penalty area with Callum Robinson waiting for a more accurate pass to come his way.

  2. Postpublished at 13:35 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Bristol City 0-1 Burnley

Bristol City will have to do something no other side in the Championship has managed against Burnley so far this season if they want to win this game - and that's score twice.

The Clarets haven't conceded more than one goal in any match. Quite the task for the Robins, then...

Liam Manning has made a change at half-time for Bristol City. George Earthy has been replaced by Yu Hirakawa.

We're getting back under way for the second half in our lunchtime fixtures.

Can Sheffield United hold on with 10 men at Coventry? Will there be a winner at Hillsborough? And can Burnley see out the win at Ashton Gate?

The next 45 minutes or so will tell us...

  5. Bassette 'knew exactly what he was doing'published at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    HT: Coventry 1-2 Sheff Utd

    Steve Ogrizovic
Ex-Coventry City goalkeeper on BBC CWR

What a first half that was - breathless, so many talking points. First and foremost Coventry are 2-1 down, but they played very very well for me in that half. They have pressed well high up the pitch.

They have made Sheffield United with the best defensive record in the league look very uncomfortable at the back. The reason is Norman Bassette has run the line well: He's been enthusiastic he has been determined, he has been aggressive.

Bassette is 19-years-old he knew exactly what he was doing. He has managed to get a response from the defender and made the most of it. I wouldn't of liked it if it happend against Coventry.

We have been talking for a long time about playing the dark arts, he is so fired up about there and running Sheffield United torrid.

  6. Tempers continue to flare...published at 13:31 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    HT: Coventry 1-2 Sheffield United

It appears that the two sets of players have continued to get into it off the pitch.

Television footage has shown that there has been some pushing and shoving between the sides as they head down the tunnel and back to the changing rooms.

    Blackburn Rovers P-P Portsmouth

    Luton Town v Hull City

    Millwall v Sunderland

  8. 'Hamer the difference'published at 13:28 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

Spirited stuff from the Sky Blues - and it's harsh on them to be trailing at half-time in a game they have actually dominated.

But they were twice opened by their old boy Gus Hamer - and the Blades have twice taken advantage.

Hamer's two moments of quality really have been the difference between the two sides.

What effect the sending-off of Anel Ahmedhodzic remains to be seen, Not a moment Norman Bassette ought to feel too proud about other. But at least the Belgian striker has got on the scoresheet for the first time. And, with a man advantage in the second half, maybe there are more goals to come?

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:24 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Coventry 1-2 Sheffield United

That was an incident-packed first 45 minutes at the CBS Arena.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi set up one goal and scored the other for Sheffield United either side of Norman Bassette's strike for Coventry.

Bassette was also at the heart of the most heated moment of the game so far, with Blades defender Anel Ahmedhodzic shown a red card after grabbing the forward around the neck as he pushed him to the ground.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 13:23 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Coventry 1-2 Sheffield United

Michael Cooper makes his second huge save of the first-half to deny Coventry an equaliser.

Jay Dasilva did well to direct his header down, but Cooper read the bounce to parry the effort.

Coventry's Norman Bassett also goes into the book with a yellow card for his involvement.

He did seem to get under Anel Ahmedhodzic's skin with an initial challenge and a few words said while the defender was down on the ground.

The red card also prompts a change for the Blades as striker Tyrese Campbell is replaced by defender Jack Robinson.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Cardiff

How on earth has that ball stayed out of the Cardiff net?

Barry Bannan unlocks the defence again and Josh Windass goes close with a deflected effort before Jak Alnwick somehow foils Uche Ugbo in the follow-up.

Defender Dimitrios Goutas has come to the Bluebirds' rescue a fair few times as well as they cling on until the interval.

  13. 'You just can't react like that'published at 13:17 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Coventry 1-2 Sheff Utd

    Adam Oxley
    BBC Radio Sheffield commentator

Norman Bassette has gone down like he has been pole-axed. It is the kind of situation where you see a red card.

The red card has come out for Anel Ahmedhodzic and as a professional at this level, he was taunted, but you just can't react like that!

Tempers have well and truly boiled over at the CBS Arena.

Sheffield United's Anel Ahmedhodzic is shown a straight red card after he grabs Norman Bassette around the neck and pushes the forward to the ground.

Players from both sides then rush in for a push and shove! It's chaos.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Bristol City 0-1 Burnley

Burnley lead at the break thanks to Jaidon Anthony's close-range effort on the rebound after Josh Brownhill's deflected shot was parried into his path by Bristol City keeper Max O'Leary.

Jay Rodriguez also saw a headed effort crash into the crossbar from Lucas Pires' corner 10 minutes before the interval.

But for Anis Mehmeti's attempt after he was teed up by Max Bird in the opening stages, the Robins have created very little and are yet to have a shot on target.

A big half-time team talk for City boss Liam Manning. Meanwhile, Clarets head coach Scott Parker will want to see more of the same.

  16. Postpublished at 13:15 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Bristol City 0-1 Burnley

A bit more pressure in the Burnley half for Bristol City as we near half-time but they're still not able to make much of it.

The hosts float a cross into the box but it's straight into the arms of Clarets keeper James Trafford.

Liam Manning will know his side need to be cuter than that to get back on level terms against a strong defensive outfit.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Coventry 1-2 Sheffield United

Michael Cooper ensures Sheffield United remain in front, making a great reflex save to keep Victor Torp out.

The Dane got plenty of power on his header, but Cooper did incredibly well to keep it out with a combination of limbs.

  18. Postpublished at 13:13 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Bristol City 0-1 Burnley

George Earthy strides forward well for Bristol City but he doesn't really have many options and he's challenged brilliantly by CJ Egan-Riley on the edge of the box.

The Robins are just struggling in the final third in this first-half.

  19. Postpublished at 13:12 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2024

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Cardiff

That equaliser has really woken Wednesday up and they're piling on the pressure now.

Marvin Johnson has had a couple of attempts charged down, with Cardiff defending desperately as they look to get through to half-time on level terms.
