Eventually, it is going to work for them and it did before half-time but they need a little bit better delivery.

Don't panic. Yes, Monaco are quick on the break but Aston Villa will get chances. They haven't been brilliant but they have got better and were the better side by the 45th minute. They should win this still.

Digne is caught on his heels there and should never be caught there. Great play by Minamino but he must hit that on target.

Akliouche put it over the top and now it is half-time.

In the last seconds of the half, Monaco should have made it two. Maghnes Akliouche is free on the right side of the penalty area but the finish is rushed and lacking composure, with him sending the ball wastefully over the top when unmarked.

It is a good save by the goalkeeper but Watkins knows that one-on-one, with the keeper a little bit off his line, he has got to score.

We haven't seen much of Ollie Watkins but he so nearly gets on the scoresheet in first half injury time. Emiliano Buendia does well to hold off a challenge and nudge the ball into Watkins' path and he is on the edge of the area and central.

But a great save from Radoslaw Majecki who is down quickly to his right to get a vital hand on the low shot to divert it wide.

Mateo Retegui's third Champions League goal in the 11th minute is all that separates the sides at the break.

It didn't look like there was a great deal in it but the worry is that Konsa has twisted something there.

Worrying signs for defender Ezri Konsa, as he is getting both legs stretched off at the same time by the Villa medical team.

He's OK to carry on, for now at least.

It is a shame for Bailey, who was falling down as he hit it.

It is another one where if you have a lot of games under your belt you are probably coming on to that and caressing it. It was probably a little too easy for the goalkeeper.

Villa have responded well to falling behind. Emiliano Buendia with a good run through the middle and he slides a pass through. Ollie Watkins can't take it in his stride, but it falls nicely for Leon Bailey, whose effort is saved by Radoslaw Majecki, who flung up an arm to keep the ball out.

Morgan Rogers has completed more dribbles than any other player in the Champions League this season (currently on 25).
