  1. Top half of the tablepublished at 16:42 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

We have had six of the eight game weeks in the Champions League. At the end of the league phase, the top eight progress straight into the last 16, while the sides that come between ninth and 24th will play in the two-legged play-offs to join them.

Any side that comes 25th or lower is eliminated and their European campaign is over.

Liverpool will guarantee a top-eight spot tonight if they win or draw with Lille, while even a loss may be enough if other results go their way.

Aston Villa will take a big step towards the last 16 if they can win at Monaco.
