  5. Are there replays in the FA Cup third round?published at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

FA Cup replays have been scrapped from the first round onwards this season.

The Football Association said it decided to eliminate the replays from an earlier stage because of the "changes to the calendar driven by the expanded Uefa competitions".

As a result, only qualifying rounds - where teams from the fifth to the 10th tiers of English football competed - had replays this season when the ties were level after 90 minutes.

Ipswich v Bristol Rovers (Sun, 15:00 GMT)

    Ipswich Town

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna on latest injury news: "George [Hirst] has a big chance to be involved. It won't be from the start but he has trained with the group today. A big, big bonus for us having him back in around the group, feels like a big boost.

"Conor Chaplin is a few weeks away still. Sammy Szmodics has an injury after the Fulham game.

"Hopefully not a very serious injury but he is in a boot at the moment with some damage to his ankle, so he will be assessed on Monday to get clearer picture on where he is at.

"[Omari Hutchinson] will certainly be back, if everything goes well, for the Liverpool game."

On the situation with Jaden Phiologene after Ipswich reportedly agreed deal for winger: "Nothing to say really. He is still an Aston Villa player first and foremost. There is no deal or completion as far as I'm aware.

"Until that changes, or if it changes, then I'm sure the club will announce."

  8. Bees transfer plans 'depend on numbers available'published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

  11. Will there be VAR in the FA Cup?published at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

VAR will not be used in any of the matches during the third and fourth rounds of the FA Cup.

Up until last season, the VAR was used during these stages of the competition but only when a Premier League club was playing the game at home.

But the Football Association has scrapped the VAR for these rounds this season to ensure "there is a consistent refereeing approach for all clubs taking part in the same stage of the competition."

However, all matches from the fifth round will have VAR, regardless of where the game is being played.

    Thoughts on this?

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner on Adam Wharton: "“He’s improving but still far away from training with the team, but it’s getting better.

“I can’t tell you if it will take two weeks or three or four, but I think, in January, it is quite unlikely that he will return.”

  14. 'The market is about opportunities'published at 15:18 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

Bristol City v Wolves (Sat, 12:00 GMT)

  15. Hughes unavailable and other team newspublished at 15:15 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

Crystal Palace v Stockport County (Sun, 15:00 GMT)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner on team news: "Will [Hughes] is questionable, so it doesn’t look like [he will be available].

“We had many ill players this week, or many question marks. Until today, JP [Mateta], Maxence Lacroix and Tyrick Mitchell didn’t train. Caleb Kporha trained for the first time today, but Dean Henderson went home today, being ill.

"It can be that one or two come back tomorrow, but of course not available for starting if you’re in your bed with fever for almost the whole week – so there are still many question marks."

  16. 'I believe we have signed a good player'published at 15:12 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

Bristol City v Wolves (Sat, 12:00 GMT)

    Wolves

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira on centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou, who signed for the club this week: "He's a player that can help the team. He is strong in duels, fast for his weight and he is a technical player. He has the qualities I like to see in a centre-back.

"He can play in the three positions [in a back three]. He is a defender but has the skills to build the play. I believe we have signed a good player."

  17. 'The players want to stay here'published at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

Crystal Palace v Stockport County (Sun, 15:00 GMT)

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner on the transfer window: "As soon as we sign a player, we will tell you. We are working on two transfers, I don't know how quick we will get them done. It looks OK and then I will talk about the names.

"If we can keep the squad together, we're really pleased with how the players have developed over the last months and also how we created a team spirit again after not an easy start. No one told me he wants to leave. The players want to stay here."

  18. 'Sometimes I overstep the mark'published at 15:05 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

Tamworth v Tottenham (Sun, 12:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on whether he is relieved to not have VAR in the FA Cup third round: "Yes. I had my say after the game. I felt I had to, as I had to clarify my position on it. But at the same time, I am also mindful that sometimes I overstep the mark.

"In some of those situations, I talk as an individual and as a person who is passionate about game. But I am also a representative of this football club and I'd rather talk about football. I have had my say on that kind of events and I'll let other people to judge."

  19. 'There are some players that might leave'published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

Southampton v Swansea (Sun, 16:30 GMT)

    Southampton

On last weekend's 5-0 defeat to Brentford and where they go from here, Southampton boss Ivan Juric said: "I was really disappointed as it was a really bad game. It was not how we planned for the game and I was angry and the players were too as they know it is not acceptable.

"We have worked a lot [this week] and I have seen improvement. We are working hard and learning but we have to find a way to be much more competitive. We’ve been working hard to build our identity this week."

On the transfer window: "There are some players that might leave, but at this moment in time, I don’t want to think about that. I do training and I will choose who is best for the team.

"I have spoken to the club about what I want and they will make their moves to see what they can do."

  20. Man City edge closer to Khusanovpublished at 14:58 Greenwich Mean Time 10 January

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Manchester City are edging closer to the signing of Uzbekistan defender Abdukodir Khusanov.

The 20-year-old is rated in the €50m bracket by his French club Lens.

City have been keen to bring in new players this month.

Manager Pep Guardiola refused to speak about talks around any potential signings as he looked ahead to Saturday's FA Cup third-round tie with League Two Salford.

However, talks for Khusanov are at an advanced stage and it would be no surprise if a deal was agreed in the coming days.
