Summary

  1. 'We will have our core group playing'published at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time

Tamworth v Tottenham (Sun, 12:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on chances of rotating his squad: "We can't rotate too much because we don't have too many. We are still limited with numbers. We get [James Maddison and Pape Sarr] back from midweek who were suspended.

"We will be able to rotate a little bit, but the reality is we are going to have the core group of the first team playing because of the limited numbers [we have] playing."

On Mikey Moore's chances of playing: "It's an opportunity to put on a football team that will win a game of football for us. And the ones who play will be the ones that I think will do that.

"It's good getting Mikey back. We will try to get him some game time during the weekend but aside from that, it will be a team that we think will get us through to the next round."

  2. 'Spurs have to be ready for Tamworth'published at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time

Tamworth v Tottenham (Sun, 12:30 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on maintaining focus against Tamworth: "I have no doubt about the attitude of the players. All the boys have a great understanding that every game is important. We go into Sunday's game with the same sort of mindset of making sure that we do things that we can control and a big emphasis on things we do really well.

"There's always challenges out there. I'm sure Tamworth will think it's a great opportunity for them and we have to be ready for that."

On whether the visit to Tamworth will be a shock to his players: "They are not multi-million dollar players. They are human beings who are very understanding. They are good people. Most of them have come from places like that, some worse than that.

"They will go there and respect the fact that Tamworth are going to build it up for the biggest game of their lives probably. And I'm sure they will do their best to create an atmosphere where they will be proud of their ground and their facility.

"I don't really think that's an issue for us. What is important for us is to prepare ourselves for an important cup game."

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has explained how the injuries to Evanilson and Enes Unal will impact the Cherries' activity in the January transfer window: "It is a difficult situation because it was unexpected. One week ago we were perfect. We had two players performing very well. You cannot control football and we are in a difficult position and I am sure the club will do a good job. They are analysing all the options in the market.

"It is always difficult in the winter but also we are a great opportunity for a number nine who wants to have an important role in the Premier League. There will be for sure strikers looking to take that chance and I hope we can sign the right providers."

  5. 'Evanilson will be out for some time'published at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time

Bournemouth v West Brom (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola gave an update on Evanilson and how long the Cherries striker will be ruled out for: "I think there were two options. To have the operation or go without. I think it was safer and shorter with surgery and it was a clean fracture. It wasn't the worst.

"I don't know the times but he will be out for some time, yes. I don't know how much but it is going to be some time."

  6. 'We will support Enes'published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola says the club will support Enes Unal through his ACL rehabilitation, and hopes the forward can come back as an even better player: "I think it is a similar sort of time. He is scheduled to have surgery next Thursday and then he will go through all the process. He has been there before, he knows that it is going to be a long one but also he has to know that we will support him. We will be here ready and hope that he can recover and be again the same or even a better player. I hope he feels the support from everyone."

  7. 'Smart people' running Salford Citypublished at 14:26 Greenwich Mean Time

Man City v Salford City (Sat, 17:45 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on the Class of 92's involvement at Salford City: "Well, they won a lot of titles, that generation of players. They got a lot of money so they can buy teams and it’s good.

"I saw Gary Neville, I don’t know all the other players involved but they are smart people I’m sure of that and when people from football run clubs they take smart decisions. They decided it’s fine.

"They are League Two now, I’m pretty sure they want to do like Stockport and other clubs and rise. Of course, it’s a target because they like it, the higher you are as a club the better the perspective will be."

Would he be interested in buying a club in the future?: "Sometimes a good manager, but as a business man I’m not good. I’m not interested in that."

  8. 'From the footballing side it is devastating. From the personal side it is even worse'published at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time

Bournemouth v West Brom (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Bournemouth

    EvanilsonImage source, Getty Images

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has been speaking to BBC Radio Solent about the recent injuries of strikers Evanilson and Enes Unal: "A very difficult week for us. Starting from the personal side because from the footballing side, it is devastating but from the personal side it is even worse.

"In Evanilson's case he finished the game and complained about another player stomping on him but we didn't think it was more than this. He developed a broken foot, surgery and a difficult situation.

"Then I will say Enes' one was worse because it was probably the moment he was waiting to have the chance to play more minutes and start more games and to have an ACL injury in the next training, and the process that comes with it, that he already knows, is really sad for him."

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland's fitness struggles: "Erling the year before he arrived here, already three or four years ago, he had problems at Dortmund.

"But, since he arrived, except one period a little bit, the others he was so consistent in terms of injuries and he is fit.

"The year of the Treble was amazing. Last season, he scored goals but he struggled a little.

"This year, I had a feeling he is incredibly focused. When you have a focus and your target is to be fit, always you are fit.

"Our physio takes care of him really well. He spends a lot of time here, that’s why he’s ready.

"With the amount of situations we should use him more than we expect, but he handles it really well."

  10. 'The players don’t switch off'published at 14:14 Greenwich Mean Time

Chelsea v Morecambe (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca rounded off his news conference by broaching the Blues' recent trend of conceding late goals: "No, the players don’t switch off [at end of games]. During the season you have movements where you score at the end and you have moments where you concede at the end. Just like you have moments where you score goals from set pieces and moments you concede from set pieces.

"Hopefully, it is just a moment and we can avoid that and we start scoring in the final minutes so we can get a good feeling from that."

Man City v Salford City (Sat, 17:45 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was not drawn into commenting on reported interest in Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush: "I was clear in my answer - I'm not going to talk. He's a player from another club, I'm not saying an answer.

"You can say in every single press conference to talk about the transfer window until the end, I'm not going to answer one question!

"In the past, the same happened. I was clear. You can try it any time you want, no problem at all, but you know my answer.

    "It’s easy. No comment."

On how much say he has on decisions to bring players back from loan: "Since we started it is the same concept. A decision we take all together - me, sporting directors, the owners at the end. To decide something, we talk all together."

On if his role in recruitment has changed since he joined: "At the end, I am the one working everyday with players. How can I train with players if there is no voice from the manager? But, it is not just the manager who decides, it is a decision taken all together."

    Manchester United

On whether the squad are reaching his demands, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim said: "I think we rotated more in the parts where we were trying to find out what kind of players we have and then a lot of players were returning from injuries and we were rotating less.

"I look at some players in the positions and try and put some fresh legs. Now we have time to train a little bit more and work on set pieces. We suffered a lot in the last game, so we will see. I don’t rotate because I want to rotate. I am trying to find out the best solutions for each game."

  15. Chilwell 'thinking he is probably going to leave'published at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time

Chelsea v Morecambe (Sat, 15:00 GMT)

    Chelsea

    Ben ChilwellImage source, Getty Images

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca on whether recalled defender Aaron Anselmino will feature: "No, still too early. Plan for him is to try to put him in condition for minutes in the future, not now.

"He had some injury while there [in Argentina]. It is important for him to come here, adapt to English weather, English football and then from there we start to use him."

On if fringe players like Ben Chilwell will get minutes in the FA Cup: "Chilwell in this moment is also thinking he is probably going to leave, so it is better to avoid using him to avoid that situation of injury. So plan is not to use Ben tomorrow."

Maresca also confirmed that Cesare Casadei "will not be in squad tomorrow": "Cesare did not get minutes with us, not because he is not good, he is good player, but we have [Moises] Caicedo, Romeo Lavia in the same position. Casadei showed how good he is in the Conference League but we have players in that position and he unfortunately did not get minutes."

"I have a lot of respect for the manager [Karl Robinson], we played years ago at Oxford and when he was assistant to Sam Allardyce at Leeds.

"The last six games, six clean sheets and six victories, so I have huge respect for them and what they do, the intensity, and we will take it seriously, like we always have done.

"Hopefully, we can do a good game and make it three wins in a row – it’s a long time since it happened."

"Our idea is always to keep the best players and to build for this club, but I am really happy and like our players, especially the guys from the academy."

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport football news reporter

When reading between the lines, Enzo Maresca has put his Chelsea players in three categories:

    1. Those who are playing every week and won't leave in January
    2. Those he is happy to keep around but who could leave if a substantial offer arrives for them
    3. Players already on their way out or ones the club is actively looking to sell.

Maresca's direct communication style has left players certain about which camp they sit in.

Skipping over the first category, Maresca effectively confirmed that midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is in the second camp; defender Ben Chilwell and midfielder Cesare Casadei are in the third.
