I know it’s a very weakened, and let’s be honest, unbothered City side. But that’s a good result considering how inevitable it felt that City would put four past us in the second half. Good bit of much needed grit from the boys

Tottenham's Dejan Kulusevski and Timo Werner, speaking to Sky Sports

Kulusevski, said: "It is important to win and go through the cup. When you play a great time like City you always want to win - I am proud of the boys.

"I always love this game, playing the best teams in the world, I want to be one of the best player in the world.

"We have to keep going and win every game. We have to keep focused."

Werner, said: "It is always hard to play against a team like Man City.

"It is good to score, especially when it is so early in the game. The last few weeks were tough, but you can't stop you always have to go on."

That may be the case, Leon, but surely some disappointment tonight for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola.

Out of the EFL Cup and potentially another couple of names added to their ever growing injury list.

As it stands this is who is on that list...

Rodri, Oscar Bobb, Kevin de Bruyne, Jeremy Doku, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish

Plus, Savinho was taken off on a stretcher at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Josko Gvardiol was also seen receiving treatment at full-time.

With the amount of fixtures that Pep's team have got it was more important to give Erling Haaland time off and ask the young players to come through.

I think Pep will be happy with his team.

Take nothing away from Spurs, what a win. But I can understand why Pep would focus on the PL and CL with a whole first XI injured more or less.

It was more important for Spurs to go through tonight. Man City have other things they will be competing for.

    Good play from back-to-front.

Jacob Wright got in a brilliant position, but his first touch let him down. He didn't put the ball in a position where he could shoot effectively.

Manchester City whip in the corner and it's bobbling around in the six-yard box. Richarlison looks to head it away but it's only as far as Nico O'Reilly.

The youngster hits it cleanly on the volley but it's cleared off the line by Yves Bissouma. Brilliant defending and his teammates rightly congratulate him.

I'm not suggesting that Pep Guardiola doesn't care about this competition, he has won it four times as City boss.

But he has suggested they will not be prioritising it this season and given that his injury list keeps on growing I think it's safe to assume that is still the case.

Surely we would've seen the likes of Erling Haaland if Guardiola was desperate to progress.
