There's a definite improvement from Man City, they are winning the ball back quicker and starting attacks in great positions.

You can feel City's desire to get a goal back before half-time.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:55 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October

    Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea

Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon is booked for a bad foul on Marc Cucurella. A melee follows but nothing too dramatic.

  4. 'No one was going to stop Willock'published at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October

    Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Great counter attack from Newcastle there. Joe Willock gets the ball on the half way line and no one was going to stop him. Doesn't half make a difference when he is in the team, picking the ball up and driving the team 30-40 yards up the pitch.

Great to see Tyrone, Boubacar and Emiliano all getting a start as well as several of the promising kids. It would be great if Villa’s reserves could get a result tonight but in many ways that is not the most important thing.

I was full of enthusiasm when Maddison joined us but last seasons injury and the knock back from England has really affected him. Sarr is such a promising player with so much energy, can’t see Maddison getting the game time he wants this season as a result.

Chelsea are so casual at the back, it's quite something. Keeper Filip Jorgensen plays a one-two with a defender and is almost tackled by Anthony Gordon on the goalline.

Another brilliant finish from Cody Gakpo.

Luis Dias nods it down and Gakpo beats his marker on the left-hand side. He drives forward into the box again but this time shoots from 15-yards out, fizzed low and hard into the bottom corner.

The problem now is, both Spurs and Man Utd are perfectly capable of throwing both these leads into the wind by the 89th minute. No daylight from where I'm sat just yet!
