There's a definite improvement from Man City, they are winning the ball back quicker and starting attacks in great positions.
You can feel City's desire to get a goal back before half-time.
Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea
Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon is booked for a bad foul on Marc Cucurella. A melee follows but nothing too dramatic.
Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea
Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live
Great counter attack from Newcastle there. Joe Willock gets the ball on the half way line and no one was going to stop him. Doesn't half make a difference when he is in the team, picking the ball up and driving the team 30-40 yards up the pitch.

Now we'll see how serious Pep was about not wanting to bother with this cup... If he brings Haaland on we can call him a big fat liar!!

Tottenham 2-0 Man City
All Manchester City at the moment with just less than 10 minutes to go until the break but they're still yet to register a shot on target.

Great to see Tyrone, Boubacar and Emiliano all getting a start as well as several of the promising kids. It would be great if Villa’s reserves could get a result tonight but in many ways that is not the most important thing.

I was full of enthusiasm when Maddison joined us but last seasons injury and the knock back from England has really affected him. Sarr is such a promising player with so much energy, can’t see Maddison getting the game time he wants this season as a result.
Alan, Derby
Newcastle 2-0 Chelsea
Chelsea are so casual at the back, it's quite something. Keeper Filip Jorgensen plays a one-two with a defender and is almost tackled by Anthony Gordon on the goalline.
Brighton 0-2 Liverpool
On come 17-year-old Trey Nyoni and Alexis Mac Allister against his former side.
Off go Tyler Morton and Wataru Endo.
Tottenham 2-0 Man City

Pep Guardiola is like a cheerleader trying to get his team back into the game.
Preston 0-2 Arsenal
Arsenal send on Thomas Partey and Kai Havertz for Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino at the break. An attacking double change on paper.

Man United’s first game after Moyes was sacked: 4-0 win. Man United’s first game after Mourinho was sacked: 5-1 win I’m sensing a trend here.
Calvin, USA
Aston Villa 1-1 Crystal Palace
Back under way for the second 45 minutes in Birmingham.
Cody Gakpo (63 mins)
Another brilliant finish from Cody Gakpo.
Luis Dias nods it down and Gakpo beats his marker on the left-hand side. He drives forward into the box again but this time shoots from 15-yards out, fizzed low and hard into the bottom corner.
Brighton 0-1 Liverpool
Liverpool break at pace on the counter and it looks like they are surely going to double their lead.
Dominic Szoboszlai is one-on-one but fires straight at Jason Steele.
Some second halves are getting under way now.
Tottenham 2-0 Man City
Manchester City win a free-kick in a dangerous area, wide on the left 16-yards out.
Ilkay Gundogan whips it in but it's too deep and zings straight over the bar.

The problem now is, both Spurs and Man Utd are perfectly capable of throwing both these leads into the wind by the 89th minute. No daylight from where I'm sat just yet!

Man City seem a yard off it.
Across the team they have been lethargic and I'm not used to seeing it.
