Man Utd v Rangers (20:00 GMT)
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have released the following statement before tonight's game at Old Trafford:
"Specialised officers will be out and about across Trafford and Manchester city centre on Thursday (23 January 2025) to support the Rangers-Manchester United football fixture.
"In the run up to the match, we have worked closely with both clubs, supporter groups, partner agencies and members of the public to build on the work we have already done at previous football events to work with organisers and the local authority to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.
"In Manchester we police many high-profile football matches each year and our response to this is no different to any other fixture. Our main priority is to keep people safe and to minimise disruption for the wider public.
"You will likely notice an increased policing presence across Manchester City Centre and around Old Trafford football stadium involving officers from our Specialist Operations branch. You may also see officers also patrolling key routes to Old Trafford stadium on our road, train and tram networks."
