There is only one Barry Conlon: Good luck and thank you for the last few years. His form has dropped and he needs a change. City need a change at right back. Good move for all.

Only four players have featured more for Pep Guardiola across his entire management career. That in itself shows how important Kyle Walker has been to the success of him and Manchester City since his arrival in 2017.

It was just last season that Guardiola made Walker captain as the side achieved an incredible fourth Premier League title in a row.

In 2023, the right-back was linked with a move to Bayern Munich. Speaking on a potential transfer at the time, Guardiola called Walker "irreplaceable" and claimed the club would fight to keep him.

"He is an incredibly important player for us," Guardiola said. "His specific qualities are irreplaceable. We want him, yes, in the end. I don't know what will happen. I know we're in contact, both clubs. We will fight for him like I'm sure Bayern will."

And the feeling between the two was mutual, with Walker always speaking incredibly highly of Guardiola. Back in September, during an episode of his You'll Never Beat Kyle Walker podcast, the 34-year-old described his manager as "unbelievable," adding that he "fell in love with the game more by working under Pep."

Kyle Walker has been a mainstay in the Manchester City side since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017 and simply put - has won all there is to win.

He was part of all six Premier League title successes under Pep Guardiola and captained the side to their latest triumph in 2023-24.

Walker, 34, also has two FA Cups, four League Cups, two Community Shields, a Uefa Super Cup, a Club World Cup and a Champions League winners medal in his cabinet.

  8. New Man City signing Marmoush's season so farpublished at 10:18 Greenwich Mean Time

Omar Marmoush's first half of the season with Eintracht Frankfurt has been nothing short of sublime.

Goals and assists? It feels like he has provided them all.

The 25-year-old has made 26 appearances in all competitions, scoring 20 times and providing 14 assists.

In the Bundesliga alone, only England striker Harry Kane sits above him in the top scorer charts having notched one more to date, while no player has provided more assists in the competition.

His form has been a huge factor as to why Frankfurt currently sit third in the league standings behind only last season's champions Bayer Leverkusen and current leaders Bayern Munich.

In response to Matt from Cornwall, Pep in his first year in management won a Champions League by coaching two youth players, in Busquets and Pique whilst that Barcelona team was built on Barcelona youth players like Xavi, Iniesta and Victor Valdes. People that complain about Pep as a chequebook manager are perhaps just a little short-sighted.

Chelsea have serious interest in Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

The 20-year-old is also available on the market but a high £70m asking price has slowed any further developments from suitors.

Chelsea are battling Napoli - as the Italian club look to replace now-PSG winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - while competing for the Serie A title.

Napoli have been in negotiations with United but Chelsea have quietly been kept informed of the situation without making any offers.

Garnacho's agents Carlos Cambeiro and Quique De Lucas were both seen at Stamford Bridge on Monday for the match at home to Wolves.

Whilst Pep has decided to splash the cash on defensive reinforcements, Klopp had to coach a centre back partnership of Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams to a 3rd place finish. The former currently in the Championship and latter, League 2. I think this highlights why, despite his successes, a lot of people point to Pep as a chequebook manager and are so fond of managers like Klopp

They may a splashed 100m plus and I’m not a City fan, but I don’t see that they’ve plugged the holes with any of those signings. It’s glaringly obvious to me that they’re short of legs in midfield and the loss of Rodri leaves them without a player who can consistently and confidently play out from the press.

  16. Who will Marmoush compete with at City?published at 09:56 Greenwich Mean Time

We have already touched on the fact that Omar Marmoush can play most positions across the forward line which makes him a valuable asset to any team.

However, it's clear that he has had the majority of his success this season playing centrally as the main striker.

It is rare that City deploy anything but one striker in their line-ups so unless Pep Guardiola is about to change his philosophy - or, perhaps even less likely - drop Erling Haaland - it seems as though we may see Marmoush compete with one of the three positions behind the Norwegian.

That leaves Savinho, Phil Foden, Jeremy Doku, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne as his main competition for a place.

It may be that Marmoush will be eased in to life in the Premier League but due to his undeniable talent and record to date - it's hard to see him doing anything but taking the place of one of the above in the coming weeks.

As it stands Liverpool finishing in 1st leads to a potential draw of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Juventus or Celtic. Leverkusen in eighth would have Villa, Monaco, Sporting or Stuttgart. Not a great incentive for finishing higher.

  18. If things remain as they stand, who plays who?published at 09:50 Greenwich Mean Time

So if every club in the Champions League table remained where they were right now, who would the British clubs play in the next round?

Here is what that would look like and Liverpool's draw, despite being top, is a tricky one:

    Play-offs

    • Aston Villa would face Sporting CP or Stuttgart
    • Celtic would face Bayern or Real
    • Man City would be out

    Last 16

    • Liverpool would face Bayern, Real, Juventus or Celtic
    • Arsenal would face Brest, Borussia Dortmund, PSV or Club Brugge

Please don't ever compare Marmoush to Mo Salah. Ever. Mo is the GOAT. The true Egyptian King. Marmoush is barely a Prince.
