LongPot: Great to see that we can still play and win a decent game despite missing injured players, the lack of an all out striker and a mixed team on the pitch. Mikel Arteta has instilled a fighting spirit in this team and it's great to see!

Arsenal's Declan Rice, speaking to TNT Sport on sharing collective responsibility: "It's so important, I think the manager has been on us really hard about midfielders arriving because so many goals can come from there.

"It's down to us to make up that extra five, 10 yards.

"Martin [Odegaard] obviously did there at the end, I did for the header, so we've got to keep arriving there. Everybody's contributing.

"Look it was an important win tonight. It's been a very positive Champions League campaign, so we've got one more to go now, hopefully we can win that as well."

CL is a case of meet the new boss same as the old boss. Ten teams already eliminated going into final games. All they are doing is jostling for positions to avoid a harder last 16!

    Chris from Tilbury

The new CL format has added more jeopardy and entertainment than we've ever seen, given a much wider spread of match-ups and given the 'smaller' teams much more success. Coupled with the giants of Europe being routinely humbled, I'd say a resounding success!

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta when asked if Declan Rice is hitting his best form: "His intent, his purpose, especially in attacking the position he's taking, how he's driving with the ball.

"There's another bite to his game, and today he could have scored two goals. In the last few weeks, he had some big, big open chances to score, to affect the game. So overall, very happy, because we need to affect the game from those positions and he certainly has a role in doing that."

And on his dip in form at the start of the season: "He had another niggle [after the Euros], and then the demands of the game, he's faced so much football in the last three years.

"And as well, on top of that, we have moved him from one position to the other. So all the factors, but the good thing with Dec is he so conscious, so reliable, is always there. And yeah, when you can create those sparks, those moments in the opposition box, obviously, it's a great thing."

Imran Aleem: Re away fans who pelted Declan Rice with pint size cups. Arsenal hierarchy please put them up in the Gods, with netting and out of sight from the main TV camera broadcast. Alcohol should be banned too. This is exactly how we are treated in Spain, Germany, Italy, etc.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, speaking to TNT Sports: "I'm very happy to win again at home and get a clean sheet, four in a row in the competition. It's a massive step.

"We're very close to achieving the goal we had before the group stage started."

On the collective ambition for goals: "Yes, I'm happy. We generated quite a lot [of chances]. Declan [Rice] especially, but he missed a few big chances, and really good from Martin [Odegaard]. His first goal [and] he really needed that.

"You could tell by the way he celebrated that he had an anger and a desire to do it, so overall a really positive night."

Arsenal all but secured their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a comfortable 3-0 win over Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb at Emirates Stadium.

Only a heavy defeat in Girona next week will prevent the Gunners - who are third - finishing in the top eight places and therefore bypassing the play-off stage of the competition.

Arsenal took the lead in the second minute when Gabriel Martinelli's cross was cushioned into Declan Rice's path by Kai Havertz and the England midfielder hammered the ball past Zagreb keeper Ivan Nevistic.

Havertz added a second on 66 minutes - the 500th goal under manager Mikel Arteta - when he headed in a curling Martinelli cross before captain Martin Odegaard bundled in a third late on.

SLB: Three clubs each season enter the ‘Champions’ League without being champions. The whole thing needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. For what it is worth, I like the format with exception of these play-offs. How can non-league teams be denied FA Cup replays or even mooted extra-time, in order that we squeeze in even more unnecessary European games. UEFA like their money, though.

GraemeO: Under the former group stage, a side could qualify with as few as 4 points out of 18, on goal difference. And be straight into top 16. Man City face tough extra knockout stage even if they qualify.

Paris St-Germain's "Ultras" warned Pep Guardiola and Manchester City about what awaited them on a stormy night in Paris - but they could not have contemplated the scale of the nightmare that unfolded.

"Beaten By The Waves, Paris Never Sunk" was the message emblazoned on a giant flag that stretched the length of one end at the Parc des Princes, the centrepiece of a spectacular pre-match display of pyrotechnics and naked hostility designed to raise the noise and the atmosphere.

It contained a brutal truth for City and Guardiola, who suffered one of the most chilling, chastening nights of his reign as an undeserved two-goal lead was transformed into a 4-2 defeat that flattered the Premier League champions, not PSG.

The manner in which City collapsed, crumbling in the face of PSG's thrilling attacking assault, exposed every flaw that has seen Guardiola's side slide into a steep decline this season.

How PSG exposed Man City's weakness on the flanks

Manchester City goalscorer Jack Grealish told TNT Sports: "I don't know what happened.

"Usually in those moments we're so good, it's happened too many times this season where we've gone one, two, three goals up and we've not be able to control the game and see it out.

"It's weird because in every other season we've been so good in those moments, managing the game. I don't know if it's a confidence thing. For most of this season we've not been at the levels we know we can be. It's down to ourselves to try and change that moving forward and to try and win the game next week.

"It's difficult, I don't know if it's a confidence thing, we had so many players on the pitch when we went 2-0 up that are so good at keeping the ball. We've not been doing that recently."

Impeccable 1: We should go back to the knockout format, with only the champions of each country in the tournament. Like it was when Liverpool and Manchester United won regularly. Even Celtic, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest had a chance back then.

  19. 'Soft underbelly'published at 07:46 Greenwich Mean Time

    PSG 4-2 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City fan Rachel Herdson says Pep Guardiola's side have a "soft underbelly" and are lacking belief.

Speaking to 5 Live Breakfast, she added: "We’ve got a really soft underbelly now and we probably went ahead against the run of play. When we were 2-0 up, we didn’t deserve that lead. But even at that point there was no real belief we were going to go on and win the game.

"It’s really concerning from a game management perspective that even with that lead you would have thought we could have said 'hang on, let’s control the game and not concede' but we did.

That felt inevitable. And then as soon as the first went in we just went to pieces all over the pitch. There just isn’t the quality there. Forget this transfer window. It’s going to take at least three transfer windows to get anywhere near where we need to be again.

Sounessmuzzie: The top 16 should simply play knockout games over two legs. Anyone below 16th gets binned. But wait….Man City, PSG and Real Madrid are 16th or lower! Well, we can’t have that, can we?
