It's former Liverpool winger Melissa Lawley who is on the front cover of the Merseyside derby programme wearing her current blue colours.

She has played in this fixture before but on the red side - this is her first competitive meeting since joining Everton in the summer.

In the match programme, manager Brian Sorensen welcomes Evertonians to Goodison Park for the final time in the WSL.

He says: "Any match against our rivals means so much to every Evertonian, but we know the extra significance of this.

"I can assure our supporters that we will give everything to help us leave Goodison on a high note."

Today marks the end of a record-breaking run as Ella Toone misses out on the starting XI for Manchester United in the WSL.

She had started their 96 previous league games in succession, the most of any outfield player for the same club in league history.

But injury has stopped her four matches short of a century.

I thought the pace of this game might slow down but it hasn't. It has kept the high intensity.

A word for Kirsty Hanson who has now assisted her third goal in the league this season, more than any other Aston Villa player.

Daly hit it first time and it went in the bottom corner. I thought it was too close to Yanez but with the power and pace it found the bottom corner. A really good finish.

    Manchester United

Asked about the season overall, Maya Le Tissier said Manchester United are keen to get back to winning ways after three successive draws.

"I think we can do a lot better. We’ve had the results we’ve had and are still unbeaten - but there’s a long way to go," she added.

"There are a lot more things we can improve. We have an exciting squad. We just need to get the ball down, play, enjoy it and pick up some wins."

  7. Mixed views on Skinnerpublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time

I braved the wintry Leicester weather to chat with a few Manchester United fans outside King Power Stadium for their views on manager Marc Skinner.

While United are unbeaten this campaign and won the FA Cup last season, Skinner is not a universally popular figure due to negative tactics, questions over selection and some odd comments in media conferences.

He was booed after United drew 0-0 with Aston Villa last weekend - their third successive league draw - and some fans had their signs ready today.

A first win in four games would help hold the doubters at bay for now.

We're also building up to Manchester United's trip to Leicester City, with kick off just over ten minutes away at King Power stadium.

Let's take a look at the key news ahead of that fixture.

    Turnaround = complete!

It's Aston Villa's leader, Rachel Daly, who puts them in front.

On the counter Kirsty Hanson slips a perfect pass forward and Daly latches onto it, hammering her effort passed Shae Yanez.

    Too easy.

  10. 'We want to give a good account of ourselves'published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time

    Everton v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Matt Beard speaking to Sky Sports: "If you look at them [Everton] apart from the Chelsea game they are conceding one goal here or there, a lot of 0-0 results. They are very organised defensively and we know better than anyone that if they get in front they are very hard to break down.

"These are great games to be part of and we want to make sure we give a good account of ourselves and do as much as we can to win the game."

On it being the last Goodison derby: "A win would be nice wouldn't it? It puts a little bit of pressure on them too. From our end we need to make sure that we turn up and do the right things. If we do that we have a great chance of winning."

On changes to the team: "Rachel Laws unfortunately hurt her knee in the week so Teagan Micah starts today. Hannah Silcock is in for Gemma Evans and Fuka Nagano is back. Unfortunately we lost Jaz [Matthews] to a hamstring injury so she is out of the squad."

On Nagano's return: "She is one of the first players on the teamsheet for us. A fantastic player who sets up a lot of attacks and breaks up a lot of opposing attacks. A key player for us so it is great to have her back."

Yanez is really keeping Palace in it here. It's a good, solid save but it was straight at her. You have got to make her work more but it's great pressure from Villa.

  15. 'It's derby day and we are ready'published at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time

    Everton v Liverpool (15:00 GMT)

    Everton

Everton boss Brian Sorensen speaking to Sky Sports: "We will do everything in our power to win. The girls will leave everything out there and we think and hope that will be enough to beat Liverpool. We've had a good run against them and hopefully that won't change today."

On Liverpool: "They have a certain style and do really well with it but at the same time I feel that we can deal with that at our best. It's derby day and we are ready."

On his daughter walking out with the players: "She has been looking forward to that. She did ask if she could stay with me on the sidelines but I said we would have to wait for that until after the game."

On changes to the side: "Melissa [Lawley] is back in the team. She had a rough start with pre-season in the game against Liverpool she broke her elbow and has been working her way back. She has been good off the bench but she is ready now. Lucy [Hope] was sick last week but comes back into the team which is good.

On injuries impacting form: "That's football. We don't have the biggest squad available so that means when key players are out we are hurt because we don't have the replacements.

"A couple of games we have not been happy with but in the rest the girls have done everything they can. We are looking forward to today and hopefully we can get that first win."

    Aston Villa strike back!

Crystal Palace don't properly deal with a looping cross into the box and a loose ball is latched on to by Villa defender Anna Patten, up into the Palace box.

The angle opens up for Patten, and she goes for pure power, beating Shae Yanez at the keeper's near post.

It's a historic day for Everton as they host the final WSL derby at Goodison Park.

Fans are expected to come out in numbers to enjoy it and hope it will inspire a performance on the pitch.

While things have looked bleak for the club this season, Everton Women have played their part in the history of The Grand Old Lady, which is one of the most famous grounds in England.

There will be a look back at their matches at Goodison Park in the fan zone before kick-off today, while players Emma Bissell and Rylee Foster spent time with young girls in the club's community centre on Goodison Road this week to help educate them.

I'm told there are plans for the women's and men's first teams to visit their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock in the new year and WSL matches are expected to be hosted there occasionally too.

Today Everton are just desperate for a win. It would be their first in the WSL this season and the first for the women at Goodison Park - what a victory it would be against their rivals if they can achieve it...
