    Wolves

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil on the desire to show former club Bournemouth what they are missing: “Not at all. Zero. If you did that in football you’d constantly be competing with teams and people you left behind.

"You move on all the time. Pleased they are doing well and I think the whole football club has progressed fantastically well.

"If you look at the net spend, they are the fifth highest spenders in the league in the last two windows. We are in similar positions in the league but different situations. I’m fully focused on our situation.”

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil says Nelson Semedo could return from a calf injury for Wednesday's visit of Bournemouth. Matheus Cunha (calf) is still a doubt while Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is close to a return from a knee injury.

“I wouldn’t declare them fit yet but some have the opportunity. Nelson is looking better, Matheus Cunha is doing all he can to be involved. Bellegarde has had a good week and is doing much better. We’re going to look at them again tomorrow.”

  3. O'Neil: Scrapping VAR should be a considerationpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 23 April

Wolves v Bournemouth (Wed, 19:45 BST)

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Wolves have had their fair share of decisions go against them this season and have had referees' chief Howard Webb apologise on more than one occasion.

After Nottingham Forest's explosive statement on X, which called into question the integrity of VAR official Stuart Attwell, VAR and decisions continue to be in the spotlight.

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil has now hinted he could be in favour of scrapping VAR.

"The technology doesn’t seem to have cleared things up as we hoped it would. I doubt very much they are considering removing it but I do think at a stage we’re at it’s a definite consideration," he said.

"I’ve never been in that camp, I’ve always thought VAR would be a big benefit to the game - maybe it hasn’t been as much as a benefit as I expected.

"Forest can handle their situation however they want. I’m sure the FA and whoever else Is involved will deal with it accordingly."

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner on recent wins over Liverpool and West Ham United: "We analysed the game on Monday. We showed the players some clips, they did really well.

"We have to be focussed and concentrated all of the time. We defended really well, but in the first half we gave the goal and chances too easily.

"It's important that we could see in the evening Man United were 3-0 up after 70 minutes but it went back to 3-3. We saw this can happen in football."

“It is tough because he is just back from injury. We don’t know the degree but it is something with his hamstring, so we don’t know how long it will take.

“He will definitely miss tomorrow's game and I think Saturday against Fulham. That is the bad news, but the other players are fit.”

  7. Villa confirm Emery contractpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 23 April

    Aston Villa

As reported by Phil McNulty earlier today, Aston Villa have extended manager Unai Emery's contract until 2027.

Emery told the club website: “We are enjoying our way together with Villa fans, the club owners, management and this great group of players that we are proud of.

“Me and the football management, we share the vision of the owners. Nassef [Sawiris] and Wes [Edens] are very supportive and respectful, and we have a good environment and the right structure to develop this football club.

“We must maintain the hard-working spirit, clever decisions and coordination with the ownership that we have found during this time. We will work to get better and better. And we will demand from each other. Ambition already is, and must always be, the motto of this project.”

  8. Dyche defends VARpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 23 April

Everton v Liverpool (Wed, 20:00) BST

    Everton

After Sunday's controversial victory against Nottingham Forest, Dyche was again asked about VAR: "The idea of VAR was to tidy up as many decisions as possible. Statically it's shown that it is doing that. As long as they keep learning and speeding it up, I still think it's a good thing for the outcomes of games.

"I appreciate that it can get in the way of things from a supporter's point of view, but there has to be some form of getting these decisions right. They are doing they best they can with a better way of doing it with VAR I think.

Everyone says the standard of refereeing has fallen but the reality is that VAR means every subjective decision is scrutinised, whereas in the past we might have said the referee missed it now people will feel the footage justifies their feelings and decision. Point in case, was there enough contact for the first of Forest's claimed penalties.

Everton boss Sean Dyche on the tracksuit he wore against Nottingham Forest on Sunday: "I didn't realise how much noise was going to come from that. It wasn't a major decision in my life, I've got lots of decisions to make here that are far more important than that.

"[I've had] a bit of banter from the players, ex-players and my daughter. I'm not too worried about that. I'll decide what I wear tomorrow."

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche on his first Merseyside derby at Goodison Park: "I'm well aware of the records that people have been telling me. I'm looking forward to the game.

"I didn't grow up here so I don't have the depth of understanding [of the rivalry] but what I do understand is how important it is to be Everton's manager in all games, but particularly this one for the obvious reasons.

On Jurgen Klopp's last Merseyside derby: "Aside from being Everton's manager, massive respect for what he's done here and his other clubs. It's not easy to build things, and he's done it at three clubs. Massive respect for that."

Everton v Liverpool (Wed, 20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

On this season's ambitions and still pushing for the title despite injuries, Jurgen Klopp said: "It was super important to qualify for Champions League. That was clear to go for that. It looks good in that department but it is not 100% set yet.

"We are where we are and want to win all the games. You have to deal with all the little setbacks. I wouldn’t say it was straight forward but until two weeks ago it was better than people would have thought.

"It’s all about how you can get the right feeling back again. And I am really happy with the response.

"Let’s make the best of it. If we win the league then I will be ecstatic. And as long as there’s that chance we will give it a good try."

I think VAR should just be stripped back to a sort of replay system that gives the ref the chance to view incidents again. The referee then makes the decision, which is final. Anything subjective should be sent down to the pitch side monitor for the ref to review whilst VAR can then keep control of the black & white decisions such as offsides.

Everton v Liverpool (Wed, 20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

On Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jurgen Klopp said: "He has been a fantastic player from the first day. Outstanding talent and has turned into a world class football player.

"It is rare as a manger you are part of a journey for such a long time. Trent has never had another manager so it will be good for him to get new influences in the future. But he can be happy with the steps he has made.

"It is nice to have these players around. I have nothing bad to say about him and his development. He has a story that not many clubs can write but he will be someone people talk about in 30 years."

Everton v Liverpool (Wed, 20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

On the Merseyside derby and the importance of the game, Jurgen Klopp said: "Super important for us and that is clear. Really important like all the other games but we know about the importance.

"I don’t know when my first derby was but I always knew how important it was. Now I know it and I feel it. My understanding has developed over the years but they are always difficult games, especially there [Goodison Park].

"There has been good results and good games over the years. High intensity.

"Goodison Park can create quite a good atmosphere as well. We will never get underestimated when we arrive there and that is what makes it more difficult. They always look ready for the game. We have to make sure we are ready for this one.

"You cannot compare the games of the past. It is just about playing football but the atmosphere is special.

"Derby fever will be in minds so we have to be cool and that is an important part in preparing for the game."

Re Martin 09:23 BST - it’s not about acting like it’s a giant school playground, it’s about consistency and the simple fact is there is so much money involved when it comes to it and these decisions can impact that. The real issue is there is just too much money at stake in the game.
