  3. Larne draw all but seals Irish titlepublished at 08:21 British Summer Time 23 April

    FT: Linfield 1-1 Larne

Larne have one hand on the Irish Premiership title after a 1-1 draw with nearest rivals Linfield at Windsor Park.

An own goal from Leroy Millar had put Linfield in front before Andy Ryan equalised from the penalty spot.

The draw keeps Tiernan Lynch's side three points ahead of the Blues with one game remaining.

Yet with Larne holding a vastly superior goal difference over Linfield, they are set to retain the Gibson Cup in their final home game against Coleraine.

  4. Inter seal Serie A title by winning Milan derbypublished at 08:16 British Summer Time 23 April

FT: AC Milan 1-2 Inter Milan

Inter Milan sealed their 20th Italian title by beating arch-rivals and nearest challengers AC Milan in a historic Derby della Madonnina.

Francesco Acerbi was unmarked to head in Benjamin Pavard's flick-on from a corner to give Inter the lead.

Marcus Thuram latched onto a long ball and was given too much time to cut in before smashing their second into the bottom corner at the San Siro.

England's Fikayo Tomori headed in from close range to give Milan brief hope.

There were three red cards in injury time as tempers boiled over. Milan's Theo Hernandez and Inter's Denzel Dumfries were sent off for their part in a brawl and the hosts ended with nine men as captain Davide Calabria was sent off for violent conduct.

The second-placed Rossoneri are now 17 points behind Inter with five games to go.

  5. The Championship race keeps getting faster...published at 08:11 British Summer Time 23 April

Leeds' win at Riverside Stadium yesterday pushes them back into the Championship automatic promotion places.

Leaders Leicester host fourth-placed Southampton tonight. If the Foxes win, they will be just one more victory from an instant return to the Premier League.

If Southampton win, there will be just four points separating those top four sides.

It is a possibility this season that a team could reach as many as 96 points, but not get automatic promotion. Crazy.

  6. Leeds go second in Championshippublished at 08:03 British Summer Time 23 April

    FT: Middlesbrough 3-4 Leeds

Promotion-chasing Leeds United climbed to second in the Championship with a thrilling victory at Middlesbrough which ended their three-game winless run.

The home side took an early lead when Isaiah Jones tucked in a loose ball, but the Whites quickly levelled through Crysencio Summerville's penalty after a clumsy foul by Anfernee Dijksteel on Georginio Rutter.

Leeds went in front just four minutes later when Patrick Bamford converted Junior Firpo's wicked cross from the left, only for in-form Emmanuel Latte Lath to level for Boro with a thumping right-footed finish from 18 yards.

Willy Gnonto finished well after being played in by Summerville to put Leeds 3-2 up at the break, although replays showed the Italy forward had been offside when the pass was played.

Summerville, the Championship's player of the season, looked to have put Leeds in the clear with a classy effort after being played in down the left and cutting back onto his right, before Latte Lath's tremendous looping header set up a tense final few minutes.

The three points move Leeds back up to second, though they have now played a game more than Ipswich.

Re Forest. Obviously gone about it the wrong way and obviously refs had their pre ref days favourite team. In general refs do ok but there is a difference with VAR. It is remote so less intimidatory pressure to be ‘100%’ correct. Need to follow RFU and have live audible and visual interaction.

  9. 'There is a real problem with PGMOL'published at 07:50 British Summer Time 23 April

    Rory Smith
Chief Soccer Correspondent for The New York Times, on BBC Radio 5 Live

There is a real problem with PGMOL. There is an aloofness and arrogance, and there is a huge problem with how clubs and fans regard refereeing at the moment. PGMOL don’t seem particularly willing to engage with that.

There is a real issue with the culture of PGMOL, and Howard Webb has done nothing to solve that. They’ve made a lot of apologies for a professional body.

There are lots and lots of ways at the moment where clubs seem to be deciding that they don’t like the way the rules are so they are opting out of them and trying to kick, thrash and flay around to get what they want and nobody seems to think about whether this is good for the competition. Bringing up who Stuart Attwell supports is not good for the integrity generally.

There will be genuine frustration at feeling aggrieved at things that have gone against them and ultimately [Forest owner Evangelos] Marinakis will have decided he doesn’t care enough to hold back.

  10. 'Atwell has been savaged'published at 07:45 British Summer Time 23 April

    Chris Sutton
Former Blackburn striker on BBC 5 Live's Monday Night Club

I thought the third one [penalty decision] was the really contentious one – I thought that was a penalty. The other two were very, very debatable. The first one there has to be sufficient contact and I don’t think there was, he planted his foot, you can argue that both ways.

To bang on about three decisions like they were all clear-cut, they weren’t. There was one that was clear-cut and they are right to feel wronged. Most Premier League clubs could point to certain incidents this season and feel that they have been wronged.

On Clattenburg, it was very dangerous territory that he was getting into and if you flip it back to his days as a referee, how would he feel if he was savaged like Stuart Attwell has been savaged?

  11. 'I don’t really understand where this is going'published at 07:40 British Summer Time 23 April

    Chris Sutton
Former Blackburn striker on BBC 5 Live's Monday Night Club

What has come out over the last day, there have been so many mixed messages from Nottingham Forest.

Nuno was saying that since he’s come into the club they’ve been targeted somehow – that was my reading of it – and that is utter nonsense. When Forest first tweeted it was pretty obvious that that came from the top and that is Evangelos Marinakis and it has been filtered down and the manager has that same message.

Then you have the oddity of Mark Clattenburg – what is his role in all of this? I don’t think he carries any clout. He seems to have been brought into Nottingham Forest to be more or less a puppet for Marinakis.

I don’t know what he can necessarily achieve. He works on behalf of Nottingham Forest, of course he’s going to back them. They are paying his wages.

I don’t really understand where this is going. What can they actually do about this? This threat at the end of the tweet, what action can they actually take? Who can they target? Are they doing this for the good of the game? I think not.

Let's get into the Nottingham Forest-PGMOL row now.

Forest are furious after three penalty claims were rejected in the 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park, which kept them just a point above the Premier League relegation zone.

It sparked an angry post on the club’s X account,, external where they said they were “considering their options” over “extremely poor” refereeing decisions.

The club said they had "warned" the PGMOL "the VAR is a Luton fan but they didn't change him".
