  1. 'Good early save'published at 12:42 British Summer Time 6 September

    Newport 0-0 Bristol Rovers

    Lee Mansell
Former Bristol Rovers midfielder on BBC Radio Bristol

Rovers look really tentative, and it is a really good early save from Brad Young in the Bristol net.

That is going to do the Bristol keeper a world of good when it comes to his confidence.

  2. CLOSE!published at 12:40 British Summer Time 6 September

    Newport 0-0 Bristol Rovers

Newport chance! Ciaran Brennan fires a shot at goal and is denied by Brad Young. He should have parried further away from danger but it is cleared eventually.

    Good early sign for Newport.

  3. Postpublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 6 September

    Newport 0-0 Bristol Rovers

Slow start in terms of chances so far. Bristol Rovers have floated a free-kick in but it has gone out for a goal kick.

    No real rhythm yet.

  4. 'Massive opportunity for Rovers'published at 12:34 British Summer Time 6 September

    Newport 0-0 Bristol Rovers

    Lee Mansell
Former Bristol Rovers midfielder on BBC Radio Bristol

Bristol Rovers will be targeting this fixture, even if Newport were in some sort of form, and they will want to come here and get three points.

If Rovers have aspirations of being in the top half of the table then these are the places you need to come and win.

Newport aren't in the greatest from at the moment, they are a very young side, and can be naive at times. Well, I say young but they have still got the old stalwart James Clarke, playing in the middle of their back four - but he is the only one with massive amounts of experience.

So, I would say it is a massive opportunity for Rovers to get three points.

    Chris Spittles
    BBC Radio Bristol commentator

The atmosphere at Newport is building, it really is.

The Rovers fans are away to my right-hand side in a temporary seating structure, and a pocket opposite us. The visiting fans have really turned out in their numbers and the tickets for this match were sold out very quickly after going on sale. There are a decent amount of Newport fans as well.

The sun is out and the sprinklers are on. I have to say this Newport pitch looks absolutely fantastic.

The Newport fans are in good voice and the Rovers are trying to match them!

No question of the game of the day in League Two, as leaders Gillingham make the short trip across the London border this evening for a derby clash with third-placed Bromley.

Gareth Ainsworth's Gills are on the longest unbeaten run of any team in the country, stretching back 17 games to March - he is yet to taste defeat at the helm in any competition, though AFC Wimbledon did oust them from the EFL Cup on penalties.

Gillingham were in the Championship 20 years ago, while Bromley were in the Isthmian League Division One, six tiers apart. Tonight they meet as equals.

Crewe could be back on top of League Two by the time they kick-off at Hayes Lane as they head to Colchester, while second-placed Chesterfield head to sixth-placed Walsall with both sides knowing three points could be enough to overhaul the Gills at the summit.

Fifth-placed Swindon are in the same position as they head north to Barrow, while at the other end winless Cheltenham, Shrewsbury and Crawley will all seek to get off and running today, against Accrington, Barnet and Harrogate respectively.

The EFL day kicks off with the clash of slow-starting Newport and Bristol Rovers at Rodney Parade, with both side aiming to move away from the foot of the table.

Two teams who are yet to hit their stride so far this season meet at Rodney Parade as Newport County host Bristol Rovers.

It has been a torrid few weeks for Newport. After drawing and winning their opening two games of the League Two campaign, they have lost their past five in all competitions - one in the Carabao Cup and four in the league.

Such a run of form has left them in 20th place, three points above bottom club Cheltenham Town.

Although things are marginally better for Rovers, it hasn't been a good start for them either. They are unbeaten in their past four in all competitions, with two wins from their past three league games, but three defeats in their opening six games has put them in 16th.

An away victory could see Rovers climb as high as 10th early in the weekend.
