I really think that could be a game changer for Saddlers today.

It has been a very positive start, and the height in the squad is probably the way we are going to get our breakthrough.

Plymouth Argyle welcome back skipper Joe Edwards for the visit of Stockport County to Home Park.

The experienced defender is the only change from the side that were thrashed 4-0 at Cardiff City last week and replaces Ayman Benarous.

The Pilgrims are hoping they can reverse their wretched form after losing five of their opening League One matches under new boss Tom Cleverley.

Argyle have scored just three goals in their past five league games - fewer than recalled Stockport striker Nathan Lowe has managed this season.

He is back in the side after scoring twice in the EFL Trophy win over Wolves' under-21s in midweek to take his tally to four since joining on loan from Stoke City.

Lowe is one of three changes that Dave Challinor has made from the 1-1 draw with Wigan on Saturday with Tyler Onyango and Ben Osborn also being included in the side.

  12. Can in-form Saddlers to take advantage of wounded Spireites?published at 14:51 British Summer Time 6 September

    Walsall v Chesterfield (15:00 bst)

Mat Sadler smilingImage source, Rex Features

These two sides are no stranger to one another having met most recently in the League Two play-off semi-finals last season, where Walsall emerged victorious with a 4-1 aggregate win.

Today, they meet again in what has the makings of a really tough game between two sides who are both in the hunt for promotion once more.

The Saddlers (6th) should be feeling pretty good about themselves after a solid win over Shrewsbury in the EFL Trophy in midweek, not to mention their triumph over a tough MK Dons side in the league just days earlier.

A victory for Mat Sadler’s (pictured) men this afternoon could extend their win streak to four in all competitions and propel them into the division’s top three.

Chesterfield are sitting neatly in second after a bright start to the new campaign with only one defeat so far.

But they suffered a crushing 7-1 defeat by Crewe in the EFL Trophy midweek, in a slightly embarrassing affair.

Spireites boss Paul Cook, who is fast approaching his 200th game in charge at the club, is no stranger to adversity and has all the experience you want in a head coach who needs his players to bounce back, with a chance to go top of the table up for grabs.

Expect a really good back-and-forth between these two sides, we can’t wait for this one at the Bescot Stadium.

Surprise strugglers Wycombe host Mansfield at Adams Park knowing they need a win to get their season on track.

Mike Dodds' side are currently 22nd in League One with no wins and four defeats in their first six games. They are looking to stop the rot today after successive losses.

Nigel Clough's Mansfield could go into the top six with an away win should other results go their way.

After a run of three successive league wins, the Stags are now on a two-game winless run.

    Doncaster v Bradford (15:00 BST)

Grant McCann tells his players to focusImage source, Rex Features

There’s no question of the game of the day in League One as fifth-placed Doncaster host unbeaten Yorkshire rivals Bradford, who lie third.

Grant McCann’s Rovers won their last derby against Rotherham last Saturday, which made it four straight in all competitions, and did the double over the Bantams last season, winning this fixture in April to secure promotion before Bradford followed them up from League Two in the final seconds of the final day of the season.

City are yet to taste defeat in any competition this season, winning seven and drawing twice, though both of those came on the road in the league.

Graham Alexander’s men have a fine record at Rovers, taking 21 points from their past 12 league visits since 1983, and failing to score only once.

However, this is a different Rovers, who have lost just once in 17 league games, claiming 36 points, and who are unbeaten in 10 on home soil.

Keep an eye on City’s Will Swan, who has scored in each of his past three league appearances, including the late winner against Wimbledon last week – no Bantam has scored in four games in a row since Nahki Wells more than 12 years ago.

  16. Pilgrims seek spark as Hatters hit the roadpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 6 September

    Plymouth v Stockport (15:00 BST)

Tom Cleverley on the Plymouth sidelineImage source, Rex Features

For two clubs who making a habit of climbing up and down the football ladder, it seems incredible that this will be the first meeting between Plymouth and Stockport in almost 22 years.

For what it’s worth, County won the past two meetings and are seeking to make it three in a row against the Pilgrims for the first time ever, though they haven’t won at Home Park since March 1995.

The clubs seem to be on different trajectories, with Argyle losing five of their opening six league games under Tom Cleverley (pictured) - another loss would equal their worst ever starts in 1949 and 2011.

The Hatters have a formidable away record, unbeaten in seven on their travels in League One since losing at Wrexham in March, but they have also dropped seven points from winning positions already this season, the most in League One and second most in the entire EFL, to give a sliver of hope to the Green Army.

  17. Terriers seek to pile pressure on Poshpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 6 September

    Huddersfield v Peterborough (15:00 BST)

Darren Ferguson looks pensiveImage source, Rex Features

Huddersfield will seek to get back on track when they host lowly Peterborough at the Accu Stadium.

The Terriers endured a torrid afternoon in the derby at Barnsley last weekend, keeper Owen Goodman gifted a goal and was sent-off in the first half as Town eventually went down 3-1.

Lee Grant’s side have, however, won all three at home without conceding, and have taken 11 points from Posh’s past six visits – it’s been nine years since they began with four wins in front of their own fans and have never done so without conceding.

Darren Ferguson’s side have picked up just one point from their opening six games to sit rock-bottom, if they don’t win today it’ll be just the fourth time they have gone winless in their opening seven matches.

They are winless in 13 League One matches stretching back to April Fool’s Day – is today the day for Posh? How their travelling fans would love that...

With leaders Cardiff and second-placed Stevenage not in action, Graham Alexander's Bradford could climb to the summit of League One with a derby win at Doncaster today.

Their fellow promoted rivals Rovers would go level on points with the Bluebirds at the top if they can inflict a first loss on the Bantams.

Huddersfield can strengthen their hand as they host rock-bottom Peterborough, who are likely to remain in the relegation zone even if they end their winless run.

Port Vale will seek to end their own winless start as they host Leyton Orient, while Wycombe will do the same at home to Mansfield.

  20. 'It should have been a hat-trick'published at 14:35 British Summer Time 6 September

    FT: Newport 2-3 Bristol Rovers

Two-goal Bristol Rovers man Luke Thomas told Sky Sports: "I think it should have been a hat-trick. It was never handball. I feel hard done by.

"I didn't hear the whistle so I was off celebrating, but looking back it was probably a foul on the keeper anyway.

"We made hard work of it in the end, but three points is three points."
