Ukraine would finish third, meaning they join the Netherlands as a potential last 16 opponent for England - although the exact fixture will only be decided after Group F's games later.

A cross from the left is not intercepted, but the Slovakia winger was not expecting it, and the ball bounced past him and away before he could react inside the Romania area.

PaulC: Belgium are like England. Both will be dumped out as soon as they meet an actual top team like France, Spain, Germany or Portugal.

There were fears this game could have been a dire 0-0, given a draw would send both teams through.
That has not come to pass - both sides have looked to score and played with good intensity and tempo. And now we have a goal to show for it.

Ukraine will be delighted if they get word of that Slovakia opener. They may just begin to think about holding what they have and being more protective of a draw.

That is the circumstance we are currently heading towards. But we have a long way to go in both games.

It is a great goal. Once the ball comes in from Juraj Kucka the header from Ondrej Duda is brilliant, just nods the ball back where it came from. The keeper had no chance of getting there. Thoroughly deserved for Slovakia.

Duda in the box he is smaller than all the Romanian defenders but that is a really strong, precise header.

A deep cross from veteran right back Peter Pekarik is one of the best from all 130 of his Slovakia appearances. It is perfectly onto the head of midfielder Ondrej Duda, who heads back across goal and into the far corner.
Slovakia are currently top of Group E, Romania are eliminated as we stand.
