This isn't even a 'smash and grab' game. Grimsby have been well worth the 2-0

    Oxford 0-2 Brighton

For a second it looks like Brighton have the golden chance to add a third as a free-kick is curled behind the Oxford defence to Harry Howell, but he can't sort his feet out before the flag goes up for offside anyway.

The thing that worries me is the lack of fight, to win a football match you have to fight win the battles all over the pitch and this Utd team time and again doesn’t do it!!

    Jack, Exeter

Careful what you wish for Man United fans. Under Ten Hag you finished third, won an EFL Cup, and won an FA Cup… why is that any worse than Moyes’ record at West Ham? And yet West Ham fans get stuck for hounding Moyes out all the time! Careful what you wish for…

    Fulham 2-0 Bristol City

Not the start Bristol City will have wanted as Adama Traore once again has the ball on the right of the box and he looks to catch Joe Lumley out at his near post but he saves well.

HT: Grimsby Town 2-0 Man Utd

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at Blundell Park

Manchester United have been battered by Grimsby Town in that first half. Grimsby have been braver, been better in every single department. They have been committed, have a clear pattern of play and thoroughly deserve this lead.

    Grimsby Town 2-0 Man Utd

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter at Blundell Park

I think even the most optimistic Grimsby Town supporter would have bitten your hand off if you told them that they would have a 2-0 half time lead.

  9. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 27 August

    Oxford 0-2 Brighton

A big second half needed from Oxford as this one gets back under way.

We're all square at the break.

    Plenty still up for grabs.

  12. Postpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 27 August

    Everton 0-0 Mansfield

It's Regan Hendry once again down the left wing and he delivers a lovely ball into the Everton box but Vitalii Mykolenko is there with a vital flick at the back post.

Everton are really under pressure here.

This is the first time in this first half that United have really pinned Grimsby in.

The look in Onana's eyes at every set piece is one of sheer terror. It's like it's his first ever game in goal.

  15. Postpublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 27 August

    Grimsby 2-0 Man Utd

Matheus Cunha looks desperate to make something happen, perhaps too much so as he runs along the edge of the box trying to find the space for the shot that just isn't there. In the end he goes for goal anyway and it is blocked.

Grimsby are having some defending to do as half-time approaches, but they are doing it well.

    Everton 0-0 Mansfield

Thierno Barry looks to spring forward as Everton break but Baily Cargill is there is a perfect sliding tackle.

Very obvious to those looking for it that the players are in open rebellion against Amorim. Reminiscent of Liverpool under Hodgson. He’ll be out by the morning

  18. 'Deary me'published at 20:42 British Summer Time 27 August

    Grimsby Town 2-0 Man Utd

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at Blundell Park

There are four or five Grimsby players steaming back, running past Manchester United's midfielders and there was only Sesko in the box when that cross came in.

When the ball came back across the box because no other United players could be bothered to bust a gut to get forward, there were no takers. Deary me.

  19. CLOSE!published at 20:42 British Summer Time 27 August

    Grimsby 2-0 Man Utd

Kobbie Mainoo lifts the ball into the box for Amad Diallo, who is way offside but executes a nice overhead kick.

A bit of pressure from Manchester United now as that is followed by a header from Benjamin Sesko that is on target but too close to Grimsby keeper Christy Pym.
