    Newcastle 2-0 Brentford

Sandro Tonali had only scored once for Newcastle before tonight in 28 games.

That was on his debut against Aston Villa in August 2023.

  12. 'Well worked move off the training ground'published at 20:30 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December

    Newcastle 2-0 Brentford

    Chris Waddle
Former Newcastle & England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a well worked move off the training ground that ends in another great finish from Sandro Tonali. Joelinton blocks two players and that allows Tonali to run onto it and pass it with his side foot into the goal.

Getting a feeling of Arsenal of the later Wenger days when our season was over in January. We enjoyed an euphoric last two seasons but normality returns to the Arsenal. A very upset gooner!

That's only Darwin Nunez's fourth goal of the season yet he has scored in the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup.

He cupped his ear during his celebration after being goaded by Southampton fans before scoring.

  17. 'Wonderful from Alexander-Arnold'published at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 18 December

    Southampton 0-1 Liverpool

    Francis Benali
Former Southampton defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

It's a wonderful piece of football from Trent Alexander-Arnold. He had two players around him, but gets past both of them and drives forward before clipping the ball over to Darwin Nunez.

Nunez does well to keep his composure and he just tucks it home. There was only one outcomes once Alex McCarthy slipped.

Joelinton is down for the second time. Sitting down next to the centre circle so a physio can come on.
