The Swedish international played under manager Jimmy Thelin at Elsfborg.

The club say they have pulled off a "major signing coup".

I wonder if Bologna club captain Lewis Ferguson told Karlsson that Pittodrie is the right place for him.

Rangers took their summer signing spree to 14 with the late arrivals of striker Youssef Chermiti in a big-money deal and Canada international defender Derek Cornelius on a season-long loan from Marseille with an option to buy.

St Mirren sign a striker in the final few minutes, Dan Nlundulu from Bolton Wanderers.

Falkirk strengthened their backline with the loan signing from Swansea of centre-back Filip Lissah, while Livingston added two bodies on deadline day; midfielder Mahamadou Susoho on loan from Manchester City and a loan deal for young West Ham right-back Junior Robinson.

There are always one or two deals which sneak out the following morning, due to delays with paperwork, or fatigue among the social media teams!

It's been a long day, but with plenty of twists and turns to keep us all interested.

  11. Busy Scottish deadline day not finished yet?published at 23:57 British Summer Time 1 September

Well, this was certainly one of the more interesting and active Scottish transfer window deadline days.

And it's not quite over yet.

It took them a fair while, but Celtic were finally able to update their social media from farewells to defender Stephen Welsh - to Motherwell on a season-long loan - and striker Adam Idah - a permanent transfer to Swansea City - to rolling out the welcome mat for Tunisian winger Sebastian Tounekti on a five-year deal.

Still no sign of the frontman manager Brendan Rodgers was asking for, although the pressure could be off there if former Leicester frontman Kelechi Iheanacho is now their preferred candidate, as he's a free agent after the mutual ripping up of his contract at Sevilla.

Former Scotland striker Kevin Nisbet - no doubt keen to impress national boss Steve Clarke again - is back at Aberdeen but this time on a permanent deal.

There was the on-off loan deal for Scotland striker Lyndon Dykes, who thought he was joining up with fellow international frontman Kieron Bowie, but the clubs couldn't come to an agreement.

The Dons have been pushing to try and get a deal over the line to bring Bologna's Swedish winger Jesper Karlsson - who played under Jimmy Thelin at Elfsborg.

On the face of it, it would be a real coup.
