Rangers have announced the signing of striker Youssef Chermiti from Everton on a four-year deal.

The 21-year-old started his career at Sporting Lisbon before signing with the Toffees two years ago.

He made 24 appearances for Everton without scoring and represented Portugal Under-21s.

This period is very much giving 'calm before the storm' vibes.

I reckon we're in for a flood of signings in the final three hours of this window.

If not, well, there's gonna be some unhappy fans.

St Mirren fans waiting for a new face or two on deadline day are likely to be disappointed.

I am told that while manager Stephen Robinson is looking at a couple of options up front, it's unlikely any more deals will be done before the transfer window closes.

There's been a fair turnover already, with a dozen players already added to the ranks, either permanently or on loan.

  5. Smyth joins Thistle on loan from St Mirrenpublished at 20:10 British Summer Time 1 September

Oisin Smyth has joined Championship side Partick Thistle for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

St Mirren have an option to recall the midfielder in January.

Smyth joined the Buddies last summer and has made 30 appearances for Stephen Robinson's side.

  6. Drammeh leaves Heartspublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 1 September

Musa Drammeh has left Hearts to join Portuguese side SCU Torreense.

The 23-year-old moves permanently to the second-tier outfit on undisclosed terms.

The striker scored three goals in 24 games for Hearts.

Any news coming out of Kilmarnock?

    Anything happening with Kilmarnock?

    Mark

    Not at the moment, nope.

Stuart Kettlewell's side had a loan move collapse with an English Championship club over the weekend.

The side look solid so far this season, but they require a bit of speed at the top end of the park. I don't think they'd turn down a pacey forward if the right one becomes available.

A front pairing of Lyndon Dykes and Kieron Bowie at Easter Road?

That sounds like absolute carnage. And I mean that in a good way.

Maybe Steve Clarke could give us a wee preview of that on Friday night...

  9. Dykes wants to join Hibs - but deal not donepublished at 19:53 British Summer Time 1 September
    Breaking

    BBC Sport Scotland

Scotland international Lyndon Dykes is ready to join Hibernian on loan from English Championship club Birmingham City.

The 29-year-old Australian-born striker had the option to join Preston North End but has chosen Edinburgh as his next port of call with Hibs set to capture him on a season-long loan.

Although the player has decided where he wants to go, the deal between the clubs has yet to be concluded.

But all being well, he will be a Hibs player by later this evening.

'Big day for Celtic board'published at 19:48 British Summer Time 1 September

This must be the busiest deadline day in Celtic’s history. We need reinforcements in the frontline. The connection has gone, we have no fire power up top. Big day for the board, let’s see what happens, but I am expecting signings.

    Liam

A proven striker, or two. Another winger. Another solid central defender. If we get all of the above we'll have a chance in the Europa League, which has to be our aim.

    Dazza

We are absolutely desperate for an out-and-out goalscorer. But we also need another one, possibly two wingers. On recent evidence we might also need to start looking at a replacement for Callum McGregor.

    Stuart

Celtic need a striker, I know most won't agree, but we do. All joking aside, why haven't we taken up the offer of Jamie Vardy. Old, yes, but a proven goal threat, and he'd pay his wages in shirt sales, as well as provide some experience to the team.

  14. What did Rodgers say about deadline day?published at 19:44 British Summer Time 1 September

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers kept his cards close to his chest.

He said after Sunday's goalless draw with Ranger's he had no update on Adam Idah, who has now left for Swansea.

But he said he was "hopeful" he would get the attacking reinforcements he is looking for.

    Will he get his wish?

  16. Shades of Guidetti at Celtic?published at 19:37 British Summer Time 1 September

Celtic fans are probably wondering (rightly) where all the forwards are that Brendan Rodgers was confident would arrive.

A sharp colleague of mine (take a bow, Scott Mullen) reminded me of the John Guidetti saga. The Swedish striker joined Celtic in September 2014 on a season-long loan from Manchester City.

It was a late one on the final day of the transfer window. So late, in fact, that the Scottish champions required special dispensation from Fifa for the move to proceed as the paperwork was filed after the deadline.

Celtic are trying to tie up at least a couple of deals in the next few hours, with Rodgers asking for a striker and a winger at the bare minimum.

Others signed alongside Guidetti over a decade ago? Stefan Scepovic, Jo Inge Berget and a certain Craig Gordon on a free transfer.

'Worryingly quiet at Celtic'published at 19:33 British Summer Time 1 September

Anything happening at Celtic? It's worryingly quiet.

    Francis

    Any updates on Celtic?

    Ian

The lack of news from Celtic Park about incoming signings is worrying.

    Jonnie

Who are Celtic trying to get in?

    Donald

We can understand the panic, especially given Celtic's blunt displays over the past week.

But we know they're after forwards. They want striker Kasper Dolberg and Hammarby winger Sebastian Tounekti, but there are strong suggestions Dolberg could now be heading back to former club Ajax.

They are also looking at Sekou Mara from Strasbourg and Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who has been linked with Rangers.

  18. Business expected at Hearts & Hibspublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 1 September

    Brian McLauchlin
    BBC Sport Scotland

It’s getting late on in the window, but I’m expecting both Hearts and Hibs to do business in the next few hours.

For Hearts, it’s likely to be exits with Musa Drammeh definitely on his way out.

For Hibs, they are still hoping for at least one more in the door with Lyndon Dykes the main target, but can they secure their man?

    Rangers, too, in fact.

This could be a busy, busy end to the window.
