Middlesbrough have won their last two FA Cup games against Blackburn, with this their first meeting in the competition since a 1-0 home win in the 2001-02 fifth round.

Blackburn are unbeaten in their last 10 away games against Middlesbrough in all competitions (W3 D7), and have already won 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium this season in the Championship.

Middlesbrough have lost four of their last five FA Cup third round ties, including both of the last two. They last went out at this stage of the competition in three consecutive campaigns between 1984-85 and 1986-87.

Blackburn have reached at least the fifth round of the FA Cup in both of the last two seasons – they had gone out at the third round stage in five consecutive campaigns before this.

Middlesbrough’s Tommy Conway has scored three goals in four games against Blackburn in all competitions, while both of his FA Cup goals have come in the third round of the competition (for Bristol City vs West Ham last season).
