Cambridge struck twice in as many minutes to win 2-1 at Colchester and deal the hosts a first League Two defeat of the season.

Colchester goalkeeper Matt Macey denied James Brophy early on but Colchester took a 13th-minute lead when Arthur Read calmly slotted a low shot past Jake Eastwood after Adrian Akande had burst down the left wing and picked him out.

Cambridge came close to equalising minutes later when Mamadou Jobe's downward header from Brophy's free-kick was tipped over by Macey.

And the visitors turned the game around in the space of two minutes just before the break.

Cambridge equalised in the 45th minute when Brophy's free-kick took a big deflection off the Colchester wall to wrong-foot Macey and sail into the net.

And they completed their turnaround two minutes into first-half stoppage time when Jobe rose high at the far post to head home Sullay Kaikai's free-kick.

Colchester substitute Kyreece Lisbie scuffed wide and keeper Eastwood denied Jaden Williams but Cambridge were worthy of their away victory.
