Ross Matthewman: If the first 5 minutes are anything to go by, the Juve team plan to spend as much time as possible rolling around and immersing themselves in the Birmingham grass of Villa Park. Thespians or horticulturalists, they certainly aren’t here to play football.

    Chris Sutton

This is fascinating. We know Liverpool will press Real Madrid high up the pitch but Real Madrid have the quality to play through it.

People are forgetting this is a Liverpool team without Alisson, Jota & Trent.

  9. 'The ball was creeping in'published at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Darwin Nunez was really dynamic in the middle of the park, it was a decent strike and then a decent save from Thibaut Courtois. What a clearance from Raul Asencio, the ball was creeping in.

    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

    Tremendous defending. Absolutely tremendous.

It all comes from Mbappe having his pocket picked by Salah.

  12. Postpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November

    Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid

Wow, Liverpool are inches away from taking the lead! An inch maybe.

Darwin Nunez's shot is saved by Thibaut Courtois and Raul Asencio almost knocks it into his own net, before a dramatic goalline clearance.

  13. Postpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November

Juventus have had most of the ball so far. Not done much with it.

A few class touches already from Luka Modric, making his 100th Champions League start for Real Madrid. Strange to think Toni Kroos has retired now.

I have to politely disagree with Thomas @1952. I don't think this is the best version of Liverpool we've yet to see. Use Southampton last weekend as an example, needing where some sort they relied on a Saint or two to get them them the win, not their own ruthlessness. The worry is there is another gear to reveal itself.

Real Madrid get an early run into the Reds box but Kylian Mbappe can't get a shooting chance.

    Eni Aluko
Former England forward on TNT Sports

The Aston Villa fans are going to enjoy this and Unai Emery's players need to use this atmosphere tonight. They are going through a bad patch, but Juventus are depleted. Villa should be confident of getting a win.

Richard Browne: The Salah situation isn't "rumbling on" ; its being negotiated by his agent. The more he comments, the higher the pressure for Liverpool to cave. That's his tactic. Breaking the bank and the pay structure for a 32 year old isn't a good precedent.

  20. 'We need to dominate'published at 19:58 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November

Aston Villa v Juventus (20:00 GMT)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports: "We are playing at home and in Europe, so we have to adapt. We need to learn and also use our experiences to try to manage and get the balance in our emotions.

"Our challenge is to improve, get better and play in Europe and be competitive. It is to play with personality and of course dominate the match."

On returning Matty Cash and Boubacar Kamara: "Cash is a very important player for us. He has not been consistent because of injury, but hopefully we can have him playing consistently from today and try to be better.

"Kamara is also a vey important player. He did a great job last season before he got injured. He is going to be helping us a lot this season."
