In the Klopp era Liverpool played almost every game as a cup game, a squad setup to outscore opposition with pace. The test will be whether the Slot squad are geared towards a consistent flow of games or do they have the extra gears to really tear top opposition apart. Huge week to determine the levels Liverpool can hit.

Monaco boss Adi Hutter says that Benfica will be the team under more pressure as they meet in the Champions League at the Stade Louis II tonight.

"Benfica have six points and we have 10 from four games. Therefore, certainly, they have more pressure. I don't want to say it will be an open match but it will be a meeting between two teams who like to play football with an attacking style," Hutter said.

Unbeaten Monaco began their campaign with a 4-1 win against Barcelona and also beat Red Star Belgrade and Bologna to sit sixth in the table with 10 points.

Benfica, meanwhile, also made a great start with wins against Red Star and Atletico Madrid, but defeats by Feyenoord and Bayern Munich have them 22nd on the table.

"I expect Monaco to be aggressive in their pressing and strong in transitions. But we have ambition and we want to win, we want to progress in the Champions League," said Benfica head coach Bruno Lage.

I don't think Ollie Watkins gets enough respect.

He is an unbelievable striker. He has got everything you need in a striker. He is an all-rounder. He can stretch teams, works hard off the ball, scores the goals and his mentality is right too.

There's no harm in him and Jhon Duran pushing each other, but I'm always backing Watkins to score the goals for Aston Villa.

Aston Villa v Juventus (20:00 GMT)

Pau Torres believes Aston Villa can continue their 100% home record in the Champions League by beating Juventus.

Villa have won three of their first four Champions League matches, including home victories against Bayern Munich and Bologna.

Defender Torres said: "We started really well [in the Champions League], of course we lost a good opportunity against Club Brugge, but here at home we are feeling comfortable.

"We know that like Bayern Munich, Juventus as well are favourites on Wednesday. But we know that if we are at our highest level and focused 100%, we can beat them, so we'll be trying to get that win.

"It's special for us and the supporters. They've been waiting many, many years to be in this competition again.

"We started really well and have been giving them happy nights at Villa Park. We want to enjoy it with them."

Aston Villa v Juventus (20:00 GMT)

Aston Villa are in a good position in the Champions League, sitting 12th - which would be enough for a play-off spot - after three wins from four games.

Villa won the European Cup in 1982.

"It will be a very important three points but even if we don't win, taking one point is good because in the table we are in the top eight positions," boss Unai Emery said before Tuesday's games.

"We want to be in the next round and tomorrow if we win maybe we can be a contender to get it.

"I like this Champions League format a lot. I think teams have more time to try and correct mistakes. Of course, we are watching the table. Some teams are playing really well as a surprise in the top positions, and some teams are not being consistent at the moment."

Juventus, in 16th, are just two points behind Villa.

One of the modern Real Madrid greats is pitchside at Anfield tonight in Emilio Butragueno.

We never bring contracts or those kind of things into conversations. I can't think it would affect the players and they will be focused.

It's for the people upstairs to sort out.

I'm sure Salah is just making a lot of noise to try and get a bit more money!

  12. 'Juventus very, very dull'published at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November

Aston Villa v Juventus (20:00 GMT)

    Mina Rzouki
Italian football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

The problem is that Juventus are very, very dull. The whole point of bringing in Thiago Motta to replace Max Allegri was to have a very attacking and entertaining Juventus going forward, one that showed more beauty.

Right now because they can't score goals, I fear that they may aim for more dreadfulness against Aston Villa.

Juventus are unbeaten in Serie A after 13 games, which sounds more impressive than their league position of sixth.

Thiago Motta's side have drawn seven of those games - and only conceded seven league goals.

And Serie A is close so they are only four points behind leaders Napoli.

It's very much part of the Juventus DNA to be defensively stubborn. They have the best defence in Serie A but they have drawn more than they have won.

Weston McKennie and Dusan Vlahovic, who have been big part of what got them success, are missing on the pitch tonight.

Thiago Motta have made them defensively sound, but there is still a lot of work to do for them.

  16. 'Lean into the challenge'published at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November

Aston Villa v Juventus (20:00 GMT)

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

There is no denying Villa are a little out of tune. Goals were pouring in at such a rate in the early weeks of the season that defensive mistakes were masked. That is fine while it lasts – who does not feel exhilarated when their team fights back to win 3-2? – but when Villa have been blunted by well-organised opponents, their own weakness has been exposed. The only clean sheet Villa have kept this season in the Premier League was against a toothless Manchester United.

If Emery has identified a structural reason for this pattern, he has quite reasonably declined to say much about it. It seems logical that such a problem would be harder to fix in season when there is so little time available to work with the players. They must be in an almost constant cycle of build-up and recovery from games.

But Emery thinks differently. "We want to play a lot of matches!" he said when asked at the news conference. "Hopefully we will play [in the Champions League] until the last month in the season."

Of course, he will be examining all the tactics minutely with the players. But there is something romantic about Emery’s public enthusiasm.

Lean into the challenge. Accelerate through the skid. Dream big dreams.

    It has worked before.

Just like the Premier League, Liverpool are flying near the top of the Champions League.

    Four wins from four.

A win today would put them top of the 36-team table.

Real Madrid are, surprisingly, down in 22nd - with two wins and two defeats. They could conceivably end the day outside any of the qualification places.

I suspect we all feel the same way about this. Mo Salah is in unbelievable form for Liverpool and probably been the best player in the Premier League this season.

If anything happened to Salah I don't think Liverpool would go on and win the league. His importance to the team is so great. It just seems odd to me that Liverpool have had this wonderful start but they have this overhanging issue.

The last thing Liverpool need is turbulence.

Juventus are one of the most successful teams in European football, having won the Italian title a record 36 times.

They have won the European Cup or Champions League twice, in 1985 and 1996.

Villa boss Unai Emery said: "Tomorrow, Juventus. It is a team with maybe Real Madrid in Spain, Bayern Munich in Germany, PSG in France, and Juventus.

"They are maybe the better team in the world, historically and now."
