Penalty shout for Bayern. Michael Olise finds some space on the right and drives towards goal. The ex-Crystal Palace player falls right on the edge of the area, and possibly inside it, but the referee deems it's a foul not a trip.

Wow, that is shocking defending from Madrid!

The ball comes in from Bukayo Saka and Eduardo Camavinga goes to hammer it clear but it comes off the backside of Antonio Rudiger and goes inches wide.

William Saliba does really well. He doesn't commit and forces the hand of Vinicius Jr to make a decision. He holds his ground and manages to get a deflection on the cross to take it back to David Raya.

Eric Dier's got a mohawk?! Well, sort of. He's gone very short on the back and sides and because there's not much up top it kind of looks mohawk adjacent.

Anyway, he fouls Marcus Thuram on the halfway line.

    Arsenal 0-0 Real Madrid

Martin Odegaard's delivery was awful and Madrid break with Vinicius Jr.

He powers down the left and tries a trivela pass with his right foot but it rebounds off William Saliba and into the hands of David Raya.

Bukayo Saka looks to dance past Luka Modric on the edge of the box after some sloppy Madrid play.

Modric can only bring him down and it's a free-kick in a good position.

  8. Postpublished at 20:02 British Summer Time 8 April

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Inter Milan

Free-scoring Bayern against water tight Inter.

The hosts have started brightly, spraying a few passes around. Harry Kane's already had one or two good touches.

    Arsenal 0-0 Real Madrid

Jakub Kiwior misses the ball and Kylian Mbappe decides to test David Raya from a good 30 yards from goal. Wasn't much of a test if I'm being honest.

BBC football news reporter at the Emirates Stadium

Arsenal have really gone big for the pre-match shows. They have had a light show, fan displays and also played their 'north London forever' anthem. It's really got the crowd going.

The display in the home end is of that famous Thierry Henry goal in the Bernabeu Stadium.

  15. 'Madrid capable of creating goals in blink of an eye'published at 19:57 British Summer Time 8 April

Arsenal v Real Madrid (20:00 BST)

    Alvaro Romeo
Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

Real Madrid are a team that can sometimes be split in two: between attack and defence.

The midfield is not working as it should, in part because Toni Kroos retired at the end of last season. They struggle to keep the intensity for 90 minutes.

All that said they are capable of creating the goal in the blink of an eye.

Arsenal are back among the big time in Europe and it's been a long time coming.

Arsenal v Real Madrid (20:00 BST)

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It will be interesting to see how Arsenal approach this game. Whether or not Mikel Arteta just tells them, "We're at home, let's go out and really put them under pressure. Start fast and try and get after them."

But in doing that you do expose yourself on transition and the counter attack against a side that is so incredibly potent and efficient.

  19. 'Competition could be a saving grace'published at 19:53 British Summer Time 8 April

Arsenal fan Rakeem Noblespeaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast: "I think all Arsenal fans are ready. The last time we hosted Real Madrid was 2006, in the run to the final, you don't get many games like this so when you do you really need to embrace them.

"A semi final awaits. It is a real definining point in the season. Barcelona are running La Liga right now and Arsenal are 11 points behind Liverpool, so this competition could be a real saving grace."

  20. 'Arsenal need to take a lead to the Bernabeu'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 8 April

Arsenal v Real Madrid (20:00 BST)

    Andros Townsend
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

For me the fact that Arsenal are at home first means that they need to take the game to Real Madrid. They need to take something to the Bernabeu, at least a one goal lead for me.
