The route to the Champions League final has already been mapped out. Here's how it looks:

    • Arsenal/Real Madrid v PSG/Aston Villa
    • Bayern Munich/Inter Milan v Barcelona/Borussia Dortmund

That means if both Arsenal and Aston Villa advance from their quarter-final ties they will go head-to-head in the last four.

The semi-finals will take place on 29 and 30 April, with the return fixtures on 6 and 7 May.

The winners of those ties will head to the final in Munich on 31 May.

Read more about the route to the final on the BBC Sport website

Arsenal v Real Madrid (20:00 BST)

Both of these sides had extremely contrasting last 16 ties.

Arsenal had wrapped up their spot in the quarter-finals after the first leg against PSV with a huge 7-1 win while Real Madrid were left to battle it out with city rivals Atletico.

Real survived a penalty shootout in the second leg by the skin of their teeth to progress to the last eight once again.

    Andros Townsend
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

For me the Real Madrid front four is the deadliest in Europe and even with Gabriel I think it would be a tough task for Arsenal to hold them off.

Jakub Kiwior coming in, looking unsteady at times at the wekeend, is that an area that Kylian Mbappe will drift over to and cause problems?

Then there is Jude Bellingham who will drop into the pockets in front of Kiwior. That might be an area that Real Madrid target tonight.

  9. A big night for Kiwiorpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 8 April

Arsenal v Real Madrid (20:00 BST)

    Alex Howell
BBC football news reporter at the Emirates Stadium

It's a huge night for Jakub Kiwior at centre back for Arsenal.

The talk has been dominated about whether Bukayo Saka will be fit enough to start but it's at centre back where the biggest question has been for Mikel Arteta.

Since losing Gabirel Magalhaes to a season ending hamstring injury Arteta has been left with a big gap in his usually reliable centre back partnership.

Kiwior is left footed and a natural fit in that left sided centre back position but the Arsenal boss could have picked Timber or the returning Ben White too.

Mikel Arteta says 100% it is the biggest match of his managerial career. It is season-defining.

11 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race, this is Arsenal's last chance of silverware.

  11. Klinsmann praises Olise impactpublished at 19:12 British Summer Time 8 April

    Bayern Munich v Inter Milan

I had the pleasure of speaking to former Bayern Munich striker Jurgen Klinsmann yesterday and asked him about the impressive Michael Olise.

    Enjoy!

"Oh, he’s a joy to watch," said Klinsmann. "I think he’s an absolute joy to watch. He’s young, full of creativity, he does things and wants to try things out. He takes risks. He can take people on with ease. He is really fun to watch.

"Going to a club like Bayern at his age and with the competition that he has with Sane, Gnabry, Coman, Musiala has his spot guaranteed. That is not easy, and he came in there, didn’t make a big deal out of it and started playing really well and has his spot.

"It’s a cool story, huge compliments to the kid."

Inter Milan beat Bayern Munich in the 2009-10 Champions League final

It's almost 15 years since Bayern Munich and Inter Milan faced each other in a classic smash-and-grab Champions League final (Jose Mourinho's Inter won 2-0 with two goals on the break).

This time around it's for a place in the semis as the Bundesliga leaders face the Serie A champions.

Bayern are cruising in their league and beat rivals Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16. They are suffering with some key injuries though. Playmaker Jamal Musiala suffered a torn muscle recently and will probably be out until next season.

As for Inter, they let a two-goal lead over Parma slip at the weekend, settling for a draw and had their Serie A lead cut to one point.

Inter have won just two of their past eight games on the road in all competitions.

Bayern Munich are unbeaten in their last 22 home matches in the Champions League (W17 D5).
