Good to see Newcastle still having a big core of English players and a brilliant English manager even with the multi million pound investment! We often hear of pathways being blocked for English talent but seeing so many on the team sheet helps the national side long term.

Newcastle are working hard off the ball. For the first time Anthony Gordon is allowed to gallop down the wing and he looks to get away from his man before being dragged down by Amar Dedic. That's a booking all day long.

The crowd are really behind the team tonight.

It's been a fast start from Arsenal who are pressing Atletico all over the pitch.

Eze is unlucky that his strike hits the bar after the deflection.

Two huge chances for Man City in the opening minutes but they fail to take both.

Missed opportunities cost them on their last Champions League trip at Monaco, so they will be hoping it does not come back to bite them tonight.

Already Arsenal look like they fancy this right-hand side, Timber and Saka getting the better of the Atletico Madrid defence on a number of occasions.

    Arsenal 0-0 Atletico Madrid

What a start by Arsenal and Atletico Madrid can barely handle them.

Here comes Eberechi Eze now and his shot takes a huge deflection to loop into the air and onto the crossbar, before Declan Rice hits the follow up into the ground and just over the bar.

Jacob Murphy in space out wide and this looks encouraging for Newcastle but his cut-back falls straight at the feet of a red shirt. Play is then stopped after Enzo Barrenechea is fouled by Kieran Trippier.

Another big chance. Erling Haaland leaps highest from Bernardo Silva's cross but he can't get his header on target.

It's so important Newcastle feed off the fever pitch atmosphere from the stands and get off to the fast start but it's been a no-thrills opening couple of minutes.

What a chance that was for Jeremy Doku in the opening seconds.

Boss Pep Guardiola has asked his wingers and midfielders to chip in with more goals and the Belgian couldn't convert on that occasion.

    Villarreal 0-0 Man City

Manchester City make a bright start and Erling Haaland unselfishly lays it off for Savinho.

The Brazilian tries to feed it back to Jeremy Doku but Villarreal clear the effort.

When Pep Guardiola said that his players need to share the goals around I don't think that's what he meant. Haaland probably should've had a shot.
