How does Murphy not get into the England squad? He's got fantastic abilities to get the ball into the box, is great at the turnover and works his socks off for the team.

Sven Botman has taken a whack after using his head to block a Benfica attempt. At times, Newcastle have been so impressive off the ball.

  3. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 21:08 BST 21 October

    Arsenal 0-0 Atletico Madrid

Former Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez has looked really dangerous tonight and he is only denied by the woodwork now.

He has space and curls an effort from outside the box that beats David Raya but bounces back off the bar.

    Villarreal 0-2 Man City

Plenty of work for Villarreal to do, it wasn't the best defensive performance in the first half while they registered two shots.

Sergi Cardona has replaced Alfonso Pedraza, who was on a booking.

Surprise, surprise. Jacob Murphy, who has been so good, is tormenting the Benfica defence in the opening minutes of the second half. Newcastle have won a corner since the re-start but it's a little scrappy right now.

Atletico Madrid have been comfortable when Arsenal have possession. They've been tough to break down, I think Arsenal need to move the ball quicker. Arsenal are on top, but Atletico Madrid look comfortable.

Some news affecting Villarreal at half-time...

La Liga have announced that their planned game against Barcelona has been called off.

There was staunch opposition to the game, with silent protests from players in some matches, and Spanish league officials have now decided to cancel the game.

A statement said: "The project fully complied with the federative regulations and did not affect the integrity of the competition, as ratified by the competent institutions that ensure its compliance, which opposed it due to other circumstances.

"In a context of growing global competitiveness, where leagues such as the Premier League or competitions such as the Champions League continue to increase their reach and ability to generate resources, initiatives such as this are essential to ensure the sustainability and growth of Spanish football.

"Giving up this type of opportunity makes it difficult to generate new income, limits the ability of clubs to invest and compete, and reduces the international projection of the entire national football ecosystem."

Manchester City have won each of their last 20 Champions League games when leading by 2+ goals at half-time.

But they did lead Monaco 2-1 at the break in their last match and ended up with a 2-2 draw. They will want to put this one to bed.

Someone needs to tell Gyokeres to attack the front post. The amount of times Saka or Timber are attacking there, he needs to gamble on a loose ball or a low cross. Saka will find him.

    Glenn Murray

A wonderful game of football despite there being no goal. Both teams trying to suss each other out. You would think Arsenal have done more with their share of possession, but Atletico have had the best chance even if it was from a Raya mistake.
