  1. 'The players are giving everything they can'published at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    FT: Tottenham 1-2 Leicester

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou talking to PLP: "Yeah, it hurts. It hurts a lot. The players gave everything again. We are going to look at a lot of things, but in terms of effort I can't ask anymore of this group, things just didn't go our way today. We created some good opportunities and unfortunately things just didn't drop for us because not because the players weren't trying and that's the main thing.

"The players are giving everything they can. That is all we can ask for as a football club and me as a manager. They are trying their hardest and that is all anyone can ask for.

"You can analyse the goals, they were disappointing goals for us to concede, but I thought we had enough chances in the game to come out on top.

"When you're in this situation, they are trying as hard as they can and sometimes that doesn't give you he clarity in decision making. You can ask is for people to do as much as they can and from my perspective I see a group of players that are giving as much as they can. I know it will turn. We'll get some players back, we were short again today but in the next couple of weeks there's some really important players coming back that I know will help this group.

"We've not hit a ceiling. We've been going like this for two months. They put in an enormous performance on Thursday to make sure we're OK in Europe and they had to back it up today but there were probably at least two or three players that weren't at 100%.

"I'm a football manager and I get judged on results, that is the way of the world."

You are affecting players playing in front of their home fans.

They are walking off this pitch with another defeat. You are not talking about established players, you're talking about young boys who are not long out of school having to do men's jobs.

It is damaging to the club and those players.

That isn’t on Ange. The players capitulated twice in three minutes, how on earth can you base tactics around that? Shocking play from some key players.

  5. 'It's the start I would love to get off to'published at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    FT: Crystal Palace 1-2 Brentford

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace debutant and goalscorer Romain Esse to Sky Sports: "It couldn't have. First touch, first goal. It's the start I would love to get off to. Gutted about the result and hopefully we can fix it next week.

"Push on, express myself as soon as I get onto the pitch. If the game had gone for another 10 minutes, we would have got another couple of goals.

"I went over to the left side for a bit to try and get to the ball. I ended up at the back post. It's instincts. It's what I'm about and the more games I'll play, the more to come.

"I'm hungry for a spot in the team so I'll keep going and work hard in training."

  6. 'I just needed to do the business'published at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    FT: Crystal Palace 1-2 Brentford

    Brentford

Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo speaking to Sky Sports: "I think they are massive, we know it is really hard to play. They have a very good team and the fans here make noise. We are very happy.

"They defended really well, really compact. The calmness and the attitude we give today helped.

On penalty: "I work on them a lot and I had the chance to take a second one. I just focused myself. It's all about mental at this point. I know I work a lot and I just needed to do the business.

On Wissa celebrating before penalty was scored: "We are really good friends on and off the pitch. If one of us scores, then we are really happy for the other.

On dropping points from winning positions: "We think a lot about this and we just want to improve. We managed to do it against a really good team in a difficult place."

I'm a Tottenham fan, we are in a relegation battle for sure, but I still believe Ange can turn this around once people return from injury and the squad is reinforced. So many excellent young players coming through. It's not like under Mourinho or Conte. He wants to be here, he actually cares about the club. If he's sacked the person coming in still has a disastrous injury situation. At some point Levy needs to stick with a manager.

    On Tottenham's performance...

You are thinking a win today, two wins on the bounce would have changed the conversation.

The performance has not changed it at all. It was a tired performance from players who look beat.

A club this size, yes they have problems, but they didn't have anybody to step up.

I want to call him [Ange Postecoglou] a manager.

You have got to manage, you manage what's in front of you and I don't think he has.

The adaptability of Ange has been held up in the spotlight, and it is not there.

'I'm going to play my way' and it has eaten away at the players.

I don't think he has got the ability to change because he is so hell-bent in his ways.

Let's go Leicester! Time for another great escape 10 years after the first!

With or without injuries, Spurs should be beating Leicester. Fair play to Leicester tho, what a result for them.

  12. 'Hopefully stops the rot'published at 16:06 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    FT: Tottenham 1-2 Leicester

    Leicester City

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy: “It is big, hopefully it stops the rot we have been in.

"We have been playing some decent football for probably half a game and it has let us down a bit. The lads there battled through for 90 minutes and it is credit too to the manager what he’s been doing on the training pitch.

“At times you want to be the team playing the nice football but at times during a game it is not on. We have all stuck together as a team. We knuckled down, stayed together and got the big win.

“As a striker you just want to score in every game and that is what I am trying to do."

Can you get away from trouble? “100% back every single one of them. We all know what is at stake. We want to play nice football but that was three points in the right direction and hopefully the start of a run.”

    Leicester caught Spurs napping.

They were sloppy at the start of the game, Spurs and they come out a goal up and they did not start.

Leicester are celebrating like they have won the league.

They are off to their fans to celebrate. Nobody gave them a pray.

Looking around this Tottenham stadium there is not many fans to appreciate their players.

Brentford probably deserve that, they managed the game better than Crystal Palace.

In the final third they were a little bit more effective.

Only when they go that one goal back did Palace have little bit of a revival, but overall I think Brentford deserve that win.
