  1. 'Gvardiol chops in well'published at 13:09 British Summer Time

    Newcastle 0-1 Man City

    Stewart Downing
Former Middlesbrough and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Pep should have a go at Grealish more often because since that he has been brilliant.

Gvardiol chops in well off his left onto his right and finds the bottom corner.

That is probably the first time Grealish and Gvardiol have got the better of Trippier and Murphy on this side.

    Newcastle 0-1 Man City

I was saying a few minutes ago that Erling Haaland wasn't looking too happy and he appears to have a cut where he has been caught on the back of his Achilles by Dan Burn. One to keep an eye on.

    Josko Gvardiol

Manchester City haven't been great, but still the champions lead.

It's a composed finish by Josko Gvardiol to slot into the bottom corner after Jack Grealish got the better of Kieran Tripper on City's left.

It's only City's second shot on target but it's Pep Guardiola's side find a way, as they usually do.

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Erling Haaland is shown with his hands on his knees and not looking too content. Opportunities have been hard to come by so far, but we know he doesn't need many to do critical damage...

  5. Postpublished at 33 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Great pressing from Anthony Gordon, who regains possession for his team after Ederson's pass out, but Newcastle skipper Bruno Guimaraes goes sliding late into a challenge on Ilkay Gundogan to relieve the pressure on the visitors.

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Not happening for Ilkay Gundogan and Manchester City in front of goal so far, the German again missing the target.

  7. 'The right-hand side is dangerous for Newcastle'published at 13:00 British Summer Time

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

    Stewart Downing
Former Middlesbrough and England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

This right-hand side for Newcastle is very dangerous. Jacob Murphy has got into a few dangerous positions and so has Kieran Trippier.

There just isn't that much communication from Gvardiol and Grealish.

You can't fault Pep's coaching, but Jack Grealish is a much poorer player now. £100m and he hasn't scored in almost a year.

  9. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Better from Manchester City but Ilkay Gundogan is surprised to see Newcastle awarded a goal-kick rather than another corner opportunity for his side.

Signs that City are beginning to grow into this after half an hour, however.

  10. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

That's a decent opportunity for Manchester City, but great defending from Kieran Trippier to prevent Erling Haaland sneaking in at the back post to meet Bernardo Silva's pass.

    Corner to City.

  11. Schar v Grealishpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at St James' Park

A few words exchanged then between Fabian Schar and Jack Grealish.

The Manchester City man was jumping for the ball, Schar looked at the ball and the man, and nudged into Grealish, who responded by not getting his arm out of the way of his opponents' head as he landed.

Schar went down, then shouted at Grealish when he got up. Grealish responded. I think swear words were involved.

Referee Jarred Gillett rightly opted not to intervene.

Newcastle are giving City more to think about than most teams have over the last few weeks.

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Ilkay Gundogan makes a mess of a first-time shot after Rico Lewis did well to bring down the free-kick and set up the opportunity. It's into the ground and well-wide from Gundogan.

If the Euros, Champions League, Premier League winner and potentially a Ballon D’Or winner Rodri is out, Arsenal won’t have a better chance at the Premier League this season. No. More. Silly. Draws.

  15. Postpublished at 26 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

It has been less than convincing City defending from set-pieces so far and Newcastle's latest corner is headed out for another by Erling Haaland.

Fair to say the hosts are on top here, but Fabian Schar goes into the book after hauling down Jack Grealish to prevent a Manchester City counter attack.

  16. Postpublished at 24 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Ederson is wanting to take his time in possession but Anthony Gordon is all over him in these early stages. Great work by the Newcastle frontman so far.

Fabian Schar needs a bit of attention after being caught by Jack Grealish as the City player leapt for a header, but on we go.

  17. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Dan Burn goes down as the free-kick makes its way into the Newcastle box and that will be a free-kick to the hosts. Manchester City are yet to create a real opening yet midway through the first half at St James' Park.

  18. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Joelinton goes down claiming he's been fouled as Manchester City win possession in the Newcastle half, before Joelinton picks himself up to then clatter into Jack Grealish.

The City players, and Pep Guardiola, aren't best pleased with that. Just a City free-kick.

  19. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Newcastle 0-0 Man City

Josko Gvardiol is penalised for a foul throw deep in the Manchester City half, allowing Newcastle to maintain this promising spell, but Sandro Tonali frustratingly gives away a free-kick.

Kieran Trippier just came to the touchline to change his boots, or at least his boot.

He changed the right one but the left remained. There are two different designs.
