  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:32 British Summer Time 2 October

    Sheffield United 1-0 Swansea

Matt Grimes whips the latest Swansea free-kick across the face of goal, Blades keeper Michael Cooper dives to his right to parry away but the ball somehow evades all the white shirts in the goalmouth and is cleared.

United living dangerously with such a slender lead.

We're into four minutes of added time.

  2. Postpublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 2 October

    Sheffield United 1-0 Swansea

Sheffield United are not making this easy on their fans. Swansea are on the front foot and winning a series of set-pieces.

Surely one of them will rustle up a chance for an equaliser?

  3. Postpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 2 October

    Bristol City 0-0 Sheff Wed

Bristol City substitute Nahki Wells earns his side a corner, which is taken by Scott Twine.

It's sent into the box towards a leaping Jason Knight but his effort goes sailing above the bar.

If you want an example of how shell-shocked Portsmouth are, look no further than a very strange punch from Pompey keeper Will Norris as Stoke sub Eric Bocat loops a ball pretty much straight at him.

The ball could have gone anywhere. Luckily for the visitors it avoids a red and white shirt.

Norris' head clearly still in a spin after that five goal burst in 12 minutes either side of the break.

  6. 'Could be a long season for Portsmouth'published at 21:27 British Summer Time 2 October

    Stoke 6-1 Portsmouth

    Guy Whittingham
Former Portsmouth manager on BBC Radio Solent

We need a good reaction against Oxford on Saturday or this is going to be a very long season.

We don't want to go into the international break with no more points.

  7. 'Stoke need seven!'published at 21:27 British Summer Time 2 October

    Stoke 6-1 Portsmouth

    Mike Pejic
Former Stoke defender on BBC Radio Stoke

We've had more opportunities but we've failed to exploit them.

We need to keep that momentum with forward thinking play...but at the moment it's died down.

We need to go for seven!

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:27 British Summer Time 2 October

    Preston North End 3-0 Watford

Watford's Edo Kayembe takes a corner but his cross is a rocket and goes past all his fellow teammates.

He's then withdrawn for a sit down along with Kwadwo Baah as Tom Ince and Rocco Vata are sent on for some fresh legs.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:26 British Summer Time 2 October

    Sheffield United 1-0 Swansea

Rhys Norrington-Davies is off the bench for United, replacing Callum O'Hare for the final 10 minutes or so as he continues his road to fitness after a lengthy battle with injury.

  10. Postpublished at 21:22 British Summer Time 2 October

    Stoke 6-1 Portsmouth

Not exactly going through the motions, but the Stoke onslaught has certainly relented, not helped a raft of changes from both sides.

You'd imagine both sides would quite gladly head for the changing room. Though quite what will await the Pompey players in theirs from John Mousinho remains to be seen.

Of course 6-1 to Stoke conjures up memories of Steven Gerrard's final game in a Liverpool shirt, back in May 2015.

This is another day to remember for Potters fans.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 2 October

    Sheffield United 1-0 Swansea

Josh Tymon is withdrawn by Swansea, his ugly own-goal is the difference at the moment. Not the way he'd wish to be the match-winner.

There's a warm reception for former Blades man Kyle Naughton who is his replacement, however.

  12. goal

GOAL: Preston 3-0 Watfordpublished at 21:18 British Summer Time 2 October

    Ali McCann (75 mins)

Preston North End's Ali McCann scores their side's third goal of the gameImage source, PA Media

This time it's Ali McCann who gets his name on the scoresheet!

Before tonight only Will Keane had managed to score at Deepdale this season but the home fans have been given a lot more to scream about as McCann takes the ball on the turn and puts into the net.

It's his first at Preston's home ground and the third of the night to give the home side a comfy cushion as they start to see this one out.

  13. CLOSE!published at 21:17 British Summer Time 2 October

    Sheffield United 1-0 Swansea

Another inviting delivery from the left foot of Harrison Burrows is met by Harry Souttar but his header is straight at Harry Darling and Swansea are able to scramble away.

Not for long though as the ball is quickly worked to Rhian Brewster who opts to shoot from 18 yards rather than slot a teammate in but can only flash his low effort past the base of the far post.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 2 October

    Preston North End 2-0 Watford

Ben Whiteman brings down Giorgi Chakvetadze again but this time his actions do go rightly punished as he finds his name scribbled into the book.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 21:15 British Summer Time 2 October

    Sheffield United 1-0 Swansea

Gus Hamer is the latest Blades change, perhaps with an eye on Saturday's game against Luton, and the fact he's on a booking too, of course.

    Rhian Brewster is his replacement.

Joe Allen is off the bench for Swansea, celebrating his international recall by Wales for the games against Iceland and Montenegro later this month.

  16. Postpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 2 October

    Bristol City 0-0 Sheff Wed

Barry Bannan delivers a corner and it reaches a Wednesday head but it's an easy collection for Bristol City keeper Max O'Leary.

Sheffield Wednesday have not been prolific when it comes to the set piece. They haven't scored from a corner at all this season and that's a demonstration of why.

  17. Postpublished at 21:12 British Summer Time 2 October

    Stoke 6-1 Portsmouth

Feels weird at 6-1 up, but Stoke have only won one of their last eight league meetings with newly promoted opponents, taking just five points in total.

They beat Plymouth 3-0 last April.

At home, the Potters have failed to score in six of their last seven against promoted sides, taking only four points.

What a different an hour makes, eh Potters fans?

  18. goal

GOAL: Preston 2-0 Watfordpublished at 21:08 British Summer Time 2 October

    Milutin Osmajic (64 mins)

He's okay. More than okay now it seems.

Milutin Osmajic makes a quick recovery and is back up and lurking near the back post. The cross comes in and the flight is perfect as the striker buries it into the net.

    Watford are looking lost.

  19. ouch!

Postpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 2 October

    Preston North End 1-0 Watford

Goal scorer Milutin Osmajic is down and looks in a lot of pain as he writhes on the ground holding his wrist.

It's likely that Osmajic won't be making too many more appearances for the club in the coming weeks as he awaits his punishment from the FA for allegedly biting a Blackburn player but Paul Heckingbottom surely won't want to lose his man now.

Especially given the fine form he's shown this second half.

  20. Postpublished at 21:07 British Summer Time 2 October

    Stoke 6-1 Portsmouth

The Pompey fans are still singing, to their eternal credit.

Their players might have crumbled under the Stoke onslaught but the faithful are continuing to chant away... probably to distract them from the four hour drive home they'll have after this.

Hope the M6 is at least open for them.
