What a night of EFL action that was.

Bradford put up a valiant effort at St Andrew's in the EFL Trophy semi-final but it's Birmingham City who will be going to Wembley after winning a hard-fought contest 2-1.

In the Championship, Preston and Millwall both missed the opportunity to close the gap to the play-off spots with a 1-1 draw at Deepdale.

Wycombe improved their automatic promotion hopes in League One, while Wrexham's were dented by play-off chasing Leyton Orient who continued their excellent form with victory in Wales.

And in League Two, AFC Wimbledon couldn't cut Walsall's lead at the top to five points after they were held at Fleetwood but Doncaster moved into the top three with a 1-0 win at strugglers Morecambe.

Yet more to look forward to tomorrow night as the Championship's bottom two go head-to-head when Luton welcome Plymouth.

We will bring you live coverage of that one, but until then, good night!

It's likely you remember the last time Birmingham went to Wembley. An Obafemi Martins goal saw them stun Arsenal in the 2011 League Cup Final.

They are also two-time winners of the EFL Trophy, in 1991 and 1995.

They can take a real belief from tonight; they can match every team in their division and League One.

This team gave a brilliant account of themselves tonight and only just miss out on Wembley.

I think Birmingham did enough to win in the end, but Bradford can be proud.

Two moments of quality from the Blues to win the game.

Stansfield produced a moment of magic to put them ahead.

There were those 30 seconds of madness, where Birmingham perhaps should've been awarded a penalty, but Bradford went up the other end and scored.

Dykes, who has been brilliant since his return, put Blues back in-front with an excellent header and sent them to Wembley.

    Birmingham 2-1 Bradford

Birmingham are into the EFL Trophy Final.

Lyndon Dykes' powerful header has sent them to Wembley for the first time since 2011.

Bradford, flying the flag for League Two in the competition, did wonderfully well for so long, and nearly sprung a shock.

    But it's The Brummies' night...

    How this game has shifted.

Ten minutes ago, Bradford were ticking down the clock, with St Andrew's silent.

Now it's Birmingham seeing things out, with 'que sera, sera' being belted out around the ground.

Into the final few minutes of injury time.

The reported sold-out attendance of 29,000 tonight is actually a little under that - 2,066, to be precise.

But the noise that greeted Lyndon Dykes' header sounded like a lot more than that.

Blues had twice been close since the Bradford equaliser, each time denied by Bantams keeper Sam Walker.

But surely they can't let another lead slip?

    11 minutes added time!

It was good patience from Blues, a great cross and a great header.

It was exactly what they needed, the jump was perfectly timed, an excellent finish.

Pure quality from Iwata to find Dykes there, they need to keep their shape and discipline now and they're going to Wembley.

    Lyndon Dykes (88 mins)

A trademark Lyndon Dykes goal has surely put Birmingham into the EFL Trophy final.

He towers above the Bradford defence to head in from the edge of the penalty area. It's a superb finish.

Bradford are now hoping for another equaliser in 11 minutes of injury time.

But Wembley surely beckons for the League One leaders?

    Birmingham 1-1 Bradford

We're into the final 10 minutes at St Andrew's, and Birmingham are pushing for a second goal.

Alfie May darts around the blind side of his defender and attempts to guide a cross from the right into the net. But Bradford goalkeeper Sam Walker is equal to it.

With some long injury breaks, this game may go over 100 minutes. Penalties are looming closer and closer on the horizon.

Bradford haven't looked out of place today.

The way they have risen to the occasion and looked confident, has shown how capable they are against sides in this division.

A place at Wembley would be such an excellent achievement.

Doncaster managed to hold out for a 1-0 win against the relegation threatened Morecambe and move up to third.

Rob Street's goal after three minutes was enough for Doncaster who had Jack Senior sent off in the second half following a dangerous tackle on Gerard Garner.

Notts County also scored in the third minute through Conor Grant, but it wasn't enough for them to beat Colchester who levelled after the break through Zak Johnson's own goal.

AFC Wimbledon stay second in the table following a goalless draw at Fleetwood.

Here's what tonight's draw means for Millwall and Preston in the race for a play-off spot in the Championship.

Both move onto 42 points and are now six behind West Bromwich Albion in sixth.

A win for either would've taken them just four points off the top six but there is still a long way to go and a lot can change over the course of the final 13 games.

Daniel Udoh celebratesImage source, Rex Features

Wycombe were the big winners tonight as second-half goals from Cameron Humphreys and Daniel Udoh saw off Bristol Rovers, who finished with 10 men, 2-0.

It takes them five points clear of Wrexham in third after they slipped to a rare home defeat by Leyton Orient. Ollie Rathbone gave the hosts an early lead before Charlie Kelman equalised before the break. Jamie Donley then put the visitors in front five minutes into the second half and it proved enough.

It moves Orient up to sixth with Huddersfield now fifth after Josh Koroma's late goal gave them a 1-0 win at Shrewbsury. Defeat keeps Salop second-bottom.

Crawley, a place above Shrewsbury, earned a point at home to Wigan as Charlie Barker cancelled out Dale Taylor's opening goal.

But Burton moved to within two points of safety after a second-half rearguard to win 1-0 at Stevenage.

Charlie Webster put them ahead on the stroke of half-time before Jamie Reid missed a penalty, blazing over, for the hosts. Terence Vancooten was then sent off for the visitors but the Brewers held on for more than half an hour.

And goals from Paudie O'Connor, Sam Clucas and Dom Jefferies saw Lincoln climb to 10th with a 3-0 romp at Mansfield.

Birmingham's fans are tense and quiet now. They fear a shock home defeat in a semi-final, particularly given that this game will go straight to penalties if it ends a draw at full-time.

However, Willum Willumsson has given the fans something to get excited about. He takes a deft touch away from the defender on the edge of the penalty area, but his shot is tame and saved easily.

20 minutes for Bradford to hang on... or indeed, snatch it.

That’s the 15th time this season a game has ended all square for Preston, meaning they now lead the way for draws in the Championship, along with West Bromwich Albion (15). Millwall have also now had 12.

The Lilywhites also see their winless run against the Lions in the league extend to 12 games (D5 L7).

It’s all over at Deepdale and the spoils are shared.

Two excellent goals on the night, one from Millwall’s Mihailo Ivanovic with a wonderful curling free-kick and then a half-volley from range for the equaliser by Emil Riis for Preston.

A point gained or an opportunity missed for these two sides?

It does neither any real favours if they harbour ambitions of finishing the season in a play-off spot.

This might have been the best chance to win it for Preston...

Kaine Kesler-Hayden bursts into the box on the right and it opens up for him but he drags his shot wide.

Really needs to be hitting the target there... a let-off for Millwall in the closing stages.
