Nuno Espirito Santo is set to become new West Ham head coach following the sacking of Graham Potter.

The Portuguese coach and the Hammers are in advanced talks with the former Nottingham Forest boss expected to be in place ahead of Monday’s clash versus Everton.

Discussions have accelerated over the previous 72 hours and Nuno has agreed to become West Ham’s new boss.

Graham Potter departs with West Ham 19th in the Premier League after taking just three points from their opening five games.

The Hammers travel to Everton on Monday and Arsenal at Emirates Stadium next weekend before the international break.

In Friday's press conference Graham Potter said "positive talks," were held with the club's hierarchy.

Potter said, "Yeah [they were] positive talks, but of course we all understand where we are at and we want to improve."

"If results aren't good, which they haven't been, then there is always speculation, noise and negativity."

The Hammers have picked up just three points from their opening five Premier League games and sit second from bottom in the table.

He added: "Nobody is happy with where we are at but at the same time you have to look at the context and not get caught in the noise.

"It doesn't affect me and I don't listen to that. It is part of the noise of the Premier League and it is what you sign up for."

West Ham United

West Ham's statement on Graham Potter leaving the east London club: "West Ham United can confirm that head coach Graham Potter has left the club.

"Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.

"The club can confirm that assistant coach Bruno Saltor, first team coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, lead goalkeeper coach Casper Ankergren, and goalkeeper Coach Linus Kandolin have also left with immediate effect.

"The board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future.

"The process of appointing a replacement is underway. The club will be making no further comment at this time."
