It has been very controlled from both sides. No one is letting go quite just yet.

As they say you can't win the tie in the first game but you can lose it if you go too gung-ho.

Club Brugge had a little 10-15 minute period where the confidence grew and they created a few chances but then Aston Villa controlled it and calmed it down again.

No Villa fan would have bet on Bailey to hit it that well but he’s been improving throughout the season. I’m also enjoying the Watkins/Rashford combo. Villa fans are really behind Rashford - hope he gets a goal soon!

  12. What happened in the first half?published at 18:38 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March

After a fast start in which both sides scored in the first 12 minutes the tempo of the game slowed after that with chances few and far between.

Club Brugge had gone closest to taking the lead but Emi Martinez saved really well to deny Chemsdine Talbi from close range.

Marcus Rashford, making his third Aston Villa start, also forced a pretty routine save out of Simon Mignolet.

    Club Bruges are level!

Caution is being thrown to the wind by both these sides and Club Bruges are level. A ball over the top finds Christos Tzolis and he gets into the box before cutting it back Maxim De Cuyper to drive into the far corner.

All square and we're not even 15 minutes into this.

The game has started in slow motion and the goal was scored in slow motion.

The ball was played to the back post and Tyrone Mings nods it back and the defenders were stationary.

The control from Leon Bailey is sensational and it was a lovely little side foot finish. Dream start for Villa.

What a strike. Leon Bailey meets it on the half volley and it's a dream. Tyrone Mings with the header and he meets it perfectly. Goalkeeper, absolutely no chance.
